Chance?/general

My problem is basically that I have no extracurriculars. I’m not really sure what is relevant so sorry beforehand if I throw out any totally random/useless stuff.

sophomore year 2 AP’s, all A’s except one B first semester

Senior year (this year) 4 AP’s, 1 hon, 1 regular, almost certainly all A’s
1 year ahead in math

Some volunteering work at library, play piano level 10 certificate of merit, otherwise no extracurriculars. Asian, relatively wealthy parents (not really rich, both of them work technical/programming stuff in a computer company). I’m from california (don’t know if that’s really important). Male. Took a c programming online course over the summer. Brother has Asperger’s syndrome and is a math/science genius (national competition sort of level). Mom and dad are from china, my dad was chosen by the chinese government to go to germany to study along with 100 others back when china was opening up. He went there alone after learning german in one year, studied at one of the best colleges. My mom went to harvard for graduate school, both went to top schools in china for undergrad. I guess that family stuff would probably be the sort of stuff I’d write about in essays (maybe). Both have phd’s.

Great english letter of rec. Not sure how good math letter of rec.

No particularly strong interests/passions–don’t have any idea what I want to do with my career/major/life in general. Very well read, probably know only one other student who has read/reads more than me and everybody else probably a lot less. I’m pretty strong academically in everything although probably not amazing at anything.

I don’t know whether I have a good chance or no chance at all (this problem extends to all colleges). I don’t really know what level of school I should be applying to and what I should really expect/hope for. Thanks a ton for any responses, I’m kind of at a loss for what to do in regard to colleges. Also, since my problem of not knowing where to apply is a general sort of thing, any suggestions on where to apply?

Hi!

Looks great to me, except the ECs. But there’s still time. You might want to join some clubs. Also there are internships, which will definitely help.

your stats are certainly impressive, and will make you competitive at pretty much any place you apply. that being said, I’m not sure Chicago’s a good fit for you.

Chicago tends to look for people who have something that sets them apart as an intellectual and a scholar, as opposed to simply as a student. Based only on your profile above, I’m not sure that you have that sort of distinction. If you feel that you do have something that sets your mind apart from others, please share :)
