Chance international student study a level for Berkeley ucla Stanford nyu. Advice for other unis

I’m a kiwi (New Zealander) wishing to study in America in chem engineering or mechanical engineering. I’m currently year 13(senior) doing 4 a levels chem phys maths lit. As I will be finishing college(high school) at the end of the year, I am going to do half year at Melbourne uni before applying as freshman for either America or the UK. The problem is that if I study half year in Australia would I still count as a undergrad or transfer if applying for America

Should I send in my first time score for the essay mark or ignore completely

I have done 80+ community service as of today through basketball coaching and Christmas gift wrapping in local mall

I have played interschool tennis for 5 years
Played in counties manukau( regionals tournament) for 1 year and was awarded 2nd in junior grade
However I quit tennis after year 10 but still played for school team as tennis training clashed with basketball
Played basketball for 6 years but never played competitively

With these grades what other uni should I apply for because if I don’t get into any good uni than Melbourne I might as well study at Melbourne as I only need to pay domestic fees

Are you doing UK A-levels and are predicted AAA*B? or are you doing the ATAR?

If UK A-levels, the your predicted AAA* is pretty amazing, and works for pretty much any UK university (though obviously there are other requirements as well for Oxbridge, and depending on the subject you are interested in). Your SAT wouldn’t be enough for those UK unis, but if you are applying with UK A levels you don’t need it. For the US, your SAT reading is likely to be an issue for the top level universities.

Doing for-credit academic work after secondary school can jeopardize your freshman status at many universities- you will want to check the specifics at each uni, esp if you are looking for $$. You say money isn’t a major issue, but run an EFC for yourself to be sure that you understand what you would be signing up for. NYU is famous for being tight on fin aid

I’m currently doing a levels in New Zealand
There has been many people in my school who either studied half year then switched and I’m choosing to study in Australia half year just in case I don’t get accepted to any of the uni’s in America or UK so I don’t miss half a year behind. But if I choose to study half year would I still be counted as an undergrad or as a transfer for American uni’s? I would be dropping out before the semester ends

Also I have achieved in participating in national chem Olympiad for the international Olympiad round 1 but could not reach round 2

Well, if you drop out before the end of the semester then you haven’t completed any university work, so you are first year, not a transfer.

You can’t apply to both Oxford and Cambridge by the way. Also British universities admit by major, so have you decided on one subject you’re going to study for 3 years (it’s very different to the liberal arts system in the US). Depending on the subject, there will be specific entrance requirements which are quite clearly stated on the websites of the universities. For Oxford, often the most important factor is the Oxford-admistered admissions test, e.g. HAT, CAT, MAT, ELAT etc. Take a few practice tests and see how your score compares to those of admitted students and rejected students to better assess your chances.
