Chance it up

Hello folks. So I’m looking at some epic schools like Uchicago, ND, and Rice. (i’m a to-be junior). So here are some stats for you:
ACT: 35E, 35R, 34M, 34S, 33W (a 5 and 6 in every writing category)
GPA: 4.0 (unweighted since my school doesn’t do weighting)
ECs: StuCo, NHS, FBLA, track, cross country, speech, band, StuCo, and quiz bowl for school; 4H livestock exhibitor and volunteer in a bunch of stuff, and, during the summer, I work for a local restaurant.
Also I speak Latin, French, Spanish, and German (and English, obviously).

You might have wondered why my school does not do weighting. Because it’s a small country school (about 230 people in total in the high school, with 52–I think–in my class), since I live in the country in Nebraska. So I have some APs but they are not core classes --not allowed–and online, even though the school technically doesn’t even offer any. That would be AP Macro (where I got a 5) and it’ll be AP Statistics this year.

The other factor is solely for UChicago, since I don’t think I’m good enough to run at a D1 school, but would a mile time in the 4:30s (or maybe, if we’re pushing it, 4:20s) work as an athletic hook or nah? I’ve seen some seniors there running 4:20s on results, so I figure it’s possibly workable. I’m just guessing here since 1) those times would be from junior or senior year, and 2) I didn’t even run the mile last year…but I did place at state in the two-mile.

My information may be dated, but in the past DI milers were expected to break 4:18.
Whether or not a 4:30 mile time would be competitive for Chicago–a DIII team–depends upon the makeup of the current uChicago team & the competition Chicago faces. If I had to guess, then I think that you might need a time below 4:28 in order to have an athletic hook. Nevertheless, UChicago’s coaches can easily answer this question.

For athletic prospects, contact the coaches. YMMV even as a recruited athlete as to how much that will boost your app.

Ask to see your high school’s profile and how your transcript will look to colleges. Most schools have a particular format they use to send to colleges. It’s good to see what the colleges will be seeing.

If your school does not offer AP courses and if your GC gives you the designation that you are taking the most rigorous curriculum at your college , it’s no problem

AP Stats and Macro don’t pack a big wallop. If you’d taken AP Calc or a science, a different story. Your school should have no authority over what APs you take on your own, just what you take sanctioned through them.

Acc to UCh, you are the type of student they are currently seeking. Google their releases this year and read up on what they are saying.

You are a bit early taking the ACTs , are you not? Just curious

Also, consider taking SAT2s. Look up if they’re considered. If you can do well on them, they’ll be much more valuable than those AP exams you took. Core subjects are what’s most important .

Have you looked St affordability? How much are your parents willing and able to pay? How much are the NPCs saying you should be paying? Rice and Chicago have some new financial aid initiatives out there that may not be reflected in their NPCs

Finally, though it’s great you have your list already started. But it’s easy to pull off three name brand school. The real work is in finding school that will certainly take you, that you can afford, and that you are good in attending. That’s the crux of college search. Not easy to do, and most all of it on you. Your current choices are all lottery tickets. Get some more realistic choices on board

Yeeeeeaaah well about those APs they are through the school and those hard ones you’re talking about are core classes so I can’t really do those since I’ll be taking those not online. The Virtual High School does not have that many options. Anyway, yes, I have a couple of safety schools, too, but those aren’t really relevant here. SAT2s, though, that’s something new, so thanks @cptofthehouse .
