For whatever reason, size has become nearly synonymous with enrollment on CC. By physical dimensions, however, Tufts, at 150 acres, is less than half the size of Wesleyan, at 316 acres.
i felt like the SESP at NU aligned better with my interests than the ed studies major at vassar–there’s a clause in the vassar ed studies major that you can’t major in that and still be eligible for a teaching credential; to get a teaching credential, you have to major in your subject of interest and CANNOT major in education. it was a little bizarre to me to be honest
Perhaps you can use the geographic locations to help you make the final choice. Do you want to be close to home? Do you want to explore a new city in your free time, etc.? Let the geography and vibe help you make your decision today. Good luck!
If your dad thinks, why would you pay more for a school of the same caliber, then it seems to me logically one of the last two will end up winning - and in saving hundreds of thousands (which maybe they can use on you later) and that you might end up in education, a more affordable school seems to be a rational choice (if that’s how you go).
Either way, that you won those amazing scholarships at those last two shows your strength. You, moreso than the school, are going to make your lifetime success, and given your success in securing hard admittances and even much harder to obtain scholarships, if I’m a betting person, he’d be all in on you (regardless of the school name you choose) even if it weren’t of these calibers.
In case it’s helpful, I’ve pulled your initial College Likes & College Dislikes from your first post. It is totally okay and unsurprising if your feelings about your likes and dislikes have changed over the last 8 months…they very often do! But then you might reread them and feel that certain items are really resonating with you, and perhaps those items might help lead you toward a decision.
I’ve also gone ahead and pulled the quotes from you that I found referencing Harvard, Northwestern, WashU, and Vanderbilt, as I think those are the current final four. Again, perhaps something you wrote will help you to narrow in on the school that will fit you best.
But I want you to pay particular attention this next quote of yours, because it’s so very true. You can’t make a bad choice here…they are all great options!
northwestern is probably coming off, if mostly because i haven’t visited and am therefore nervous to commit. i honestly feel like i have a reason to hesitate about each of the four, which has given me more pause than the reasons to pick any of them, if that makes sense. hoping a long convo with my folks will give me some clarity. my poor dad is on a work trip and has no idea when he’ll get the call (mostly because i don’t either )
None of OP’s dislikes really apply to any of the schools - and this is the important part - that she’s actually visited. Time to put a fork in this decision-making: it’s Harvard.
harvard '28! i realized that if i didn’t go i’d always wonder what my life would have been like if i went. washu is amazing and it was a very hard decision (cried a lot) but i decided i didn’t want to live with the what-ifs. it’s still sinking in, but i’m excited!
