Chance/match an indecisive MA senior [3.98/1580, education or psychology]

I had a gut feeling that if you hadn’t let go of Harvard yet, there might be a good reason. You will be amazing there! Congratulations on all your hard work and validating acceptances–now, go celebrate.

Buyer’s remorse – so common it has a label. Totally natural, and it doesn’t mean you made the wrong decision.

Truth is, there is no bad decision - at least that one can be aware of up front.

Your final five and then final two - you could have had five different people choose a different one, each one for various reasons.

No one knows if they chose the right school or not until - at least a semester and realistically a year after they’ve been there.

So you made your choice - go in, take advantage of opportunities, and hopefully it all works out.

Part of the issue with being so successful is choice - it sounds great on paper but it also makes it tough when it comes time to checking.

Sometimes I envy the kids who apply to just one (like their local school) - they don’t go through this uncertainty.

Best of luck.

i know the chance/match me portion of this post is moot but i like that you can follow my journey through the thread so i’m back with a few updates.

  1. been off CC/reddit for a while now–the community here was great but my obsession was a little bit unhealthy so it’s probably a good thing that i’ve been away. i definitely want to still chime in and give back though (feel free to @ me on threads you think i might have helpful additions to–anything with applying to uk schools as a us student, education major schools, self-studying aps, etc )
  2. probably going to be around a bit more also as my brother applies to college! somehow it feels far easier to organize/nag him than myself lol.
  3. i graduated! our school doesn’t officially rank but through scoir 2024 results i could see that i was 3rd in our class (3.98 UW/4.49 W on what i believe is a 4.6 scale??. the other two kids had 4.51 and 4.53 W. one is going to oxford for PPE and the other is going i think to middlebury!). i told myself i wasn’t going to senior slide so i could keep my GPA for graduation (graduated with a 3.97 UW due to one last A- in physics C which i am happy with). i probably should have slacked off a bit more as i realize now literally no one cares about your high school GPA. oh well.
  4. buyer’s remorse is mostly gone and i am happy with my choice. i think going with my gut was the right thing to do.
  5. committed two days before the AP scores with refund cancel deadline and was riding that high and forgot to cancel my exams/research policies. i ended up sitting for all 7 exams. currently trying to figure out where to find my scores early if i can. if anyone knows my.harvard and has ideas please let me know haha.
