Chance/match an indecisive MA senior [3.98/1580, education or psychology]

Frankly you already have 4 terrific choices so as you say, anything else will be icing on the cake :sparkles::christmas_tree::confetti_ball::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Do you have a favorite, or favorites, from these 4?

i got more money from wheaton but i think clark is my favorite (although the only one i’ve visited, so that could definitely change)! i really loved the energy when i was there and the amount of handwritten notes, the personalized acceptance letter, etc have really won me over! plus i am hopefully still in the running for the presidential full tuition scholarship, which would be amazing

It’s awesome that you love it - but please love the school, the day to day.

The personalized notes and follow up from admissions are nice. But they are marketing, designed to do what they did. Note them for what they are.

If you love Clark, it’s fantastic.

But make sure you really love the school and not just the sales pitch.

Congrats on your fantastic acceptances.

yeah i really enjoyed the tour (gorgeous dance facilities + multiple dance teams, super strong psychology program and a social justice-focused community youth and education studies major) and was especially struck by the signs around campus with directions to gender neutral bathrooms + my tour guide mentioning that they were converting dorms to be gender neutral as well! one of my passion projects this last year has been changing the MA plumbing code to allow multiuser gender neutral bathrooms (which just went through a month or two ago!!!) so it made me happy to see clark was already light years ahead

Remember that the Princeton Review and Campus Pride Index ratings do not consider the same things. PR is mainly a student-survey-based rating, while CPI counts the number of mostly campus-administrative policies that it sees as relevant. So it is not impossible for these ratings to diverge.

Here is an example rating from Campus Pride Index:

It is based on the presence or absence of mostly campus-administrative policies that it considers LGBTQ friendly.

For a student concerned about LGBTQ friendliness, CPI can be useful, but is not the only thing that can be considered. Also, there may be differences between L, G, B, T, and Q in various aspects.

You may want to check if the college’s online class schedules show class sizes. If so, you can check to see what the class sizes are in your likely majors.

Presumably, your likely majors could include English (with teacher training / certification) if you may want to become a secondary school English teacher.

Congrats on the merit aid to Wheaton and Clark! Have there been any additional updates since December?

i got into cambridge and umass amherst (honors college as well); deferred from northeastern, and still waiting on kcl!

Washington college in Maryland. Excels at psychology. Has ability for funded undergrad research (google cater society Washington college). Great internship opportunities. Very supported LGBTQ clubs. Cooperative community. Professors are very active in community. You’d get great merit and be a big fish in a smaller pond, giving you TA and other opportunities.

OP is a senior who has already been accepted to four schools. I don’t think OP is looking for more suggestions at this time.

Oh, you already have tons of great options already! Vanderbilt and Wash U are reaches for anyone, and you should be super proud of yourself for getting named scholarships from them! Looking at this list, you definitely had a lot of stamina to complete the applications, and obviously you completed them well!

Are there any schools that you’re leaning toward right now?

Sounds like the ones to beat would be Kenyon, Mount Holyoke, Vanderbilt, Wash U (and, if you want abroad, StAndrews or Cambridge) :sparkles::clap:
They’re all different enough that you could have favorites already :slightly_smiling_face: … or, on the other hand, you could find yourself wanting them all for each of their distinct characteristics :slightly_smiling_face:

thank you so much :DDD

i’m visiting washu tomorrow + monday, and going to vanderbilt mosaic in april; i think a lot will depend on the vibe i get from each school. peabody college at vanderbilt is obviously incredible for education, but i really love the ervin scholars community + the people i’ve met so far have all been very sweet and wonderful. it’s going to be a tough decision, but i’m trying to remind myself that i can’t go wrong with any of these options

definitely yeah, those are my top options! the money i got from kenyon was substantially less, but i have a soft spot for it after living there for two weeks. i think i’m leaning away from going abroad at least right now; i’m relatively “medically complicated” and the NHS sounds overwhelming, plus the cambridge system doesn’t sound super ADHD-friendly.

visits to washu and vandy are already scheduled, and i’ve been meaning to visit mt holyoke as well! i honestly also really like tufts and wesleyan, but i think it would be hard to justify the price difference.

Well said - really any school on your list - if it fits you.

It’s the problem with options - now you have to choose  But obviously you are a highly desired student.

Congrats to you - really an embarrassment of riches - you’ve done beyond well!!!

What a success story!! Congrats!!

Whew, this is going to be a hard act to follow, for your brother! Amazing list of acceptances! I look forward to hearing how the visits go.

Of course, the whole point of the big named scholarships at Vandy/WashU is to court students who would otherwise have gone to the schools on your still-pending list. So clearly they think you have some more offers coming!

Congrats!!
