According to the last CDS, 55 of 1147 got an average of $26,655.
Of course, there’s inflation and my gut tells me, maybe not correctly, as Rice really being a regional school (it doesn’t have the national brand name of others) - that the merit might be used moreso to attract those from afar. 35% of students come from Texas.
I may be wrong but it’s a gut feel.
It’s fine to apply there - as long as there is a safety valve and if OP applies right, there will be some.
There likely already is some but I look for assured - and other than UTSA, which they don’t want, there is not that. A&M is likely though - but if their list is small schools, then do you really want an insanely large one? Something for @aiyer to think about.

You need to budget for 8 years, not 4. If you change your mind about medical school you will still need to budget for additional years of schooling, given your major/minor.
I would stay in-state and save money for med/grad school, unless of course you receive a huge merit award.

I think Trinity is a likely. You will also get lots of merit aid at Trinity. It is a fantastic LAC . My daughter will be graduating in a couple of weeks with a B.S in Psychology! She has had fantastic relationships with her professors and has been involved in multiple research labs, which is often not the case in large colleges.
