Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I’m mainly worried on the C- and 2.0+ GPA requirements. I’d like to think I’m a good student but I can’t help but to think that if I don’t end up getting above a 2.0 cumulative GPA or a C- in calculus and CS classes, I’d waste my scholarship at UTD and transferring into UTD might be a hassle. But then again, I am passionate for CS so I might be fine?

If you get a C- and not a 2.0, then CS likely wasn’t for you - no matter where you go. And then you’d have to figure out even if it was the right school.

So I wouldn’t let that impact my decision at all.

Enter college from a position and attitude of strength. You will likely work harder than ever before but you were admitted - so you should know that - but most everyone else is making it through and why wouldn’t you?

Many if not most freshmen struggle in the first few weeks, although they may not realize it.
The trick is to go to office hours and ask questions no matter what: it’ll confirm you did get it or show you that you didn’t&give you a chance to catch up and if youre passionate you can ask a question about sth you’d like to know more about. You won’t bother the professors : they love it when students care enough to come and ask questions. :fire:

Yes, UTD has a respectable CS program. Not on par with Austin, but good nevertheless.

I think it’s reasonable to bet on yourself and your ability to handle the prereq coursework. As others have said, be very proactive and put supports in place before you need them. You clearly have the ability, so if you are disciplined and diligent, I expect you’ll be fine.

What UTD has, that UT-Austin does not, is the economic safety net of being able to revert to commuting if financial pressure arise. I’m not clear on what the overall cost difference looks like, and how close to the edge of affordability you’d be at UT. But it seems to me that this is the comparison to be making - how much of a financial limb would you be going out on at UT-Austin, and is the combined stress of additional cost, no commuter option, and having to qualify for the major, worth it, to gain the reputational and experiential difference between UT and UTD. It’s great that you have two good options and a choice to make - congrats!!

Yeah, I was just looking at the negative since I look for all perspectives. I think I’d be a decent student to meet all the requirements, and I have friends going that can help me.

Here is the FaQ they sent out about the ATP program.

Here is the email they sent me yesterday:
