I think your list needs to be built from the ground up - first, find 2 SUNYs where your GPA and test scores places you in the top 25%.
Then, find 4-5 colleges where your gpa×scores places you above their median.
You can look up “SUNY admission statistics 2024”.
You will see that SUNY Plattsburgh or SUNY ESF are good targets, Binghamton a very big reach (their bottom 25% is about 93%).
Marist is a low reach for CS/ Engineering.

It is very important for you to speak with your parents about what they will contribute for college. Without that info, you really have no idea where to start.

I agree, look at SUNYs where your stats are 75th %, to start off your list.

Hey everyone! ~ I wasn’t getting notifications, oddly, for replies on this thread.
BTW I know my list is kinda still in progress (@MYOS1634 + @parentologist) so a lot of it is kinda just based on ‘where I wanna go’, but I don’t know if I’m applying EA/ED yet.

In most cases, it is preferable to apply EA when that is available, since some colleges fill up their classes or popular majors early. For rolling admission schools, it is best to apply as early as possible for this reason. A small number of colleges have restrictive EA where you are not supposed to apply EA to some other defined set of colleges, or ED anywhere. If the latter are on your list, you have to choose between EA at such a college and EA at other colleges that are restricted against.

On the other hand, ED with a binding commitment to matriculate if admitted should only be used for a clear no-regrets top choice that is affordable. If no college is that, then do not apply ED.
