Hi there, I am a 9th grader currently attending a LPS over MA. Last year, I applied to Middlesex, Concord, and Milton, all WL.
Trying again this year, 10th boarding with these schools:
Andover, Milton, Groton, Middlesex, BUA, Noble and Greenough ( Andover willing to repeat 9)
SSAT 2295 ( 95V, 91Q, 80R)
Most A/A-, with 2 B+, counting previous and current year
EC:
Dance 9 years, competitive dancer with several national competition top 10, both group and solo/duet
Robotics, School FTC team, 2 years
Tutoring, 2yrs
Presidential Volunteer Service Award, 2 years, on track for year 3
Not aware what the term LPS means, if you could specify. Also, you included your ECs, which seem great, but remember that another hugely important part of your application is your awards, interviews, essays, stats, and recs. It’s difficult to give accurate advice/chances when you don’t include those. (Instead of just saying things like “recs, essays, and interviews are all 10/10” you should give specific details on why you think so. For example, specify your relationship with your math teacher- “she asked to write me a recommendation letter before I even told her I was applying to private schools” instead of just saying “math rec 9/10” because it’s all subjective.)
I’m an 8th grader applying for boarding schools, but I was initially considering applying to BUA and Nobles (I’m a fellow Bostonian). I would say just from your EC’s alone you have a pretty good chance at getting into both of them, as I’ve had friends admitted with much worse… except for the fact you’re applying as a 10th grader. BUA accepts a historically low amount of 10th graders. Not too sure about Nobles. Otherwise, drop the rest of your app and I’d be happy to give you my opinion (which is probably not much better than a random person on the street. Remember, I’m going through the same process and I’m younger than you are).
All in all, the deadline is coming up, so there’s not much left to do besides submit and hope. You know your application better than anyone else, and seeing as you have experience with applying last year, you’re probably a much better judge than I am.
There’s really no way anyone can chance the OP – or any other applicant! Because we don’t see the whole application, and even more importantly, we don’t know what the schools’ institutional priorities are.
OP, you are a strong candidate! But as you know, there are many strong candidates, and you have applied to schools with low acceptance rates, so anything can happen. You could be admitted to several, or denied from all. If you don’t mind staying at your Local Public School (LPS) that’s not a big deal. If you really want to go to boarding school, you still have a few days to apply to less selective schools.
Local Public School.
The OP is welcome to create their own account to post, but account sharing is prohibited under Terms of Service, since it confuses users trying to help. Therefore, I am closing this thread.
