Are you applying to freshman year or looking to transfer?

As an international student, I think these will all be matches

and these will all be reaches, except for maybe Wisconsin.

Others more familiar with NYU can chance you, but is this school your absolute top choice?

applying freshman; I was asking since it seemed like a more reachable institution (at least in my perception)

alright! Thanks for the feedback!

Why does it say “transfer” in the title then?

Since you don’t currently have any schools that are “highly likely” for you, would you like posters to suggest some, or do you have alternative options in your home country or elsewhere if you aren’t admitted to any US college?

I mean do an in college major transfer and if not keep on doing anthro because I don’t dislike it. It would be nice if you recommend me some alternative options in US or elsewhere!

Would you like one of us to remove transfer” from your subject title?

yep sure! Thanks!

I think UIUC would be a match. Anthropology isn’t a terribly competitive major, and UIUC has a large number of international students, nearly 25% of each class. That ranks second nationally in that statistic. International students tuition is higher than domestic OOS so the school likes that. Good for the bottom line.

Hi! I’m a bit curious why UCSB and SD would be reach for my stats, I thought they focused on weighted gpa (and my ap classes would boost that)? Also I’m not sure but within my district, I think I’ve exceeded what most high schoolers are capable of doing, wouldn’t that give me really good chances in UC’s? This is just me being curious, I stand corrected if I’m wrong.

Some schools, especially public schools like you have listed, have restrictions on transferring to certain majors. If you are hoping to get into a school for a less competitive major and transferring later, be sure that it’s even possible!

None of us said those schools would be reaches. In my earlier post, I mentioned they’re more likely to be matches. Even though you have a reasonably high GPA, as an international applicant you’re competing for a limited number of seats.

Actually they will recalculate to get your unweighted gpa since high schools weigh differently. Is 3.85 weighted?

Nope, it’s unweighted and calculated by carnige units

Ok they’re matches got it, I was a bit confused by the way you put the message mb

If you are full pay, I think you have a shot at NYU - but you should add other privates. I note because you are full pay - and colleges need that.

Being international, of course, can be an issue. I’d imagine Rutgers and UIUC are likely for anthro.

Personally - I’d add more privates - need aware such as a Cornell , Northeastern and Tufts but also less competitive - schools like Clark, Syracuse, Brandeis, GW, and American. With international apps down and these schools are reliant on international students - it just makes sense to me.

Already - I see publics all over the place - so not sure I see a theme - so yes I’m throwing out random names but random names that will want your money more than ever before.

But I do think NYU is realistic.

Good luck.

UC has a specific way to recalculate GPA. See GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub

Freshman admission by discipline | University of California (best on a computer instead of a mobile phone) can help show how competitive each UC was in the recent past, using the weighted capped GPA.

Does anyone know if I could submit a November sat for additional supplements if I ED

Look at your school - each has different rules and will tell you. If you can’t find the answer, email admissions and asks.

If NYU is your ED, they say:

SAT, ACT, and AP tests must be taken in advance of NYU’s application deadline if you wish to use them as your form of standardized testing.

is French your home language?

I ask because you have two years listed. Although 2 years of a foreign language is required, a lot of schools “recommend” four years of study. This is especially true at the UCs. These schools are competitive. The public schools reserve the majority of their seats for the taxpaying residents of their states. They would not be considered safeties.

Rigor is also a strong consideration at many of your listed schools. If it wasn’t available at your school site, then that makes sense.
Your ECs are all over the place, so it’s hard to tell what your true passion has been.
