Sewanee (EA)
Furman (EA)
Wake Forest (RD)

W&M, Davidson, W&L, and Vanderbilt are a reach for anyone. He should be in at the others.

I think you have a reasonable shot at all besides Vanderbilt - but Davidson, Wake, and W&L could certainly go either way.

Congrats on your record.

You could get in everywhere.

Sewanee and Furman are certain in my opinion.

I think you get into Wake, W&M, Davidson, & W&L - but will get you Belk or Johnson, I cannot say.

Vandy 50/50.

Sewanee may be your best bet.

If you’re a writer, it’s tops - and when we visited W&L, we found out they (W&L) are #2 in per capita placement in DC. Know who’s #1? Sewanee (according to W&L).

You’ll have great opportunities. And with merit, at varying cost levels.

Congrats to you.

That seems like a really solid list to me, particularly considering you apparently already have some other acceptances. I have no idea where you will actually get admitted, but I think you have a good chance of multiple interesting offers.

I don’t think you are missing anything really obvious fitting your parameters, but I thought I would ask about a couple:

First, did you consider Georgetown? Fine if not, but it is a pretty special school if you are interested in Government, and good for Humanities too. Maybe too big, maybe not Southern enough, or so on, but I thought I would mention it.

And then for a truly small college–Gettysburg is even a bit farther north, but really a Greater DC area school in many respects, and so potentially a very cool school given your interests, not least because of the Eisenhower Institute:

Again, maybe already considered and rejected, but I think of it as the sort of LAC someone interested in, say, Sewanee or Furman but also Government might want to consider.

I agree with the others that you have a nice list and you should have a range of choices in March.

My D21 applied to many of the same schools. She’s currently a senior at W&L (Johnson). Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

Best of luck and happy holidays!
