Chance Me!
I applied to most schools as a performance major but I’m hoping to double in journalism so naturally I also applied to some schools for journalism where I can hopefully still continue singing on the side.
Major: Journalism
6 APs
SAT: 1320 720 English 600 Math
GPA: 4.1/4.4 (weighted)
ECs: Drama Club President, school newspaper/broadcast, musical, chamber choir + 3 other choirs, Music Honor Society, NHS, English Honor Society
Achievements: Published author (2 novels and works in Newsday). All Eastern and All State for voice.
New York resident.

Here are the schools I applied to for journalism / other English majors or put journalism as a second choice after performance:

How do you get a 4.1 UW? Are A+ a 4.33 ?

Can you figure out your UW on a 4 point scale - no plus or minus s? A = 4, B = 3?

If you submitted the test, on an academic level, maybe AU, Emerson and SB. Maybe ?

If music related then an audition may impact.

You might need to add to your list. Many who apply to AU apply to a U Denver. An Elon or Ithaca might also make great additions.

Our GPA is out of 4.4.
My unweighted on a 4.0 scale is probably about a 3.75.

Yeah - I think I have it right above.

For some on your list (Brown, CMU, Mich, NYU, Tulane), you should go TO. U Miami a toss up on CDS.

Yes I went test optional for all except the following:
American
Emerson
UMiami (first choice major was in the Frost School of Music, and the average SAT for the music school is 1300)

Good luck - I think when one is doing performance, that changes the entire dynamic.

I hope you find the right spot for you but if you have concerns, I suggested a few more.

I applied to a lot more for performance, and even got a few yeses already! Those are just the ones that I could get a separate journalism answer for so I wanted to see where I could end up. Thanks!

Just curious if you considered Syracuse? Are your parents able to pay the full cost of attendance at the schools on your list or are you hoping for aid? Congrats on your admissions so far!

I applied to Syracuse for theatre and passed the first round of auditions for acting! Hoping to add a double in journalism if I attend!
