Chance me - 9 hrs/CS a week

I'm half Asian, and I'm female. I live in CA.

Scores:

PSAT - 198
SAT in Chemistry - 690

Weak, I know. I'm working on it.

Grades:

I go to a school that did not allow me to take many honors or AP classes. So I took all the ones available to me, but still.

The two b's from 10th grade are due to illness. The teachers would not let me make it up.

Extracurriculars:

2 hours a week reading to kids - since the beginning of junior year
6-8 hours a week in a restorative justice program for youth - since the beginning of sophomore year
2.5 hours a week helping my grandmother with her book business - since 7th grade

So the community service totals around 10.5-12.5 hrs/week, the book business is the only summer activity as well.

I went to the Jackling Intro to Engineering program at University of Missouri - S&T

I'm the founder and president of the Math/Engineering/Science club at my school. This involved scheduling speakers, activities, etc.

I work for the local tourism board finding out what places would interest teen tourists. I'm paid, but that money is used for business expenses. It's for a major, major city, if that helps?

Awards, Honors, Etc.:

Article with quotes about/from me in the AFP.

Red Cross Youth Award, County-Level, for community service, 1999.

Schools:

Reaches:

Dartmouth
Harvard
Princeton
MIT
CalTech
CAL

Targets:

UC Irvine
UC Davis

Safety:

MUST
University of North Dakota
Tulsa

If you can get solid ACT/SAT scores, I'd guess you'll get into Cal-Berkely and UC-Davis/Irvine. The ivies are all pretty big reaches, especially since you're asian (that's not a good thing in admissions). Your community service work is impressive though and if you play it right it could really help you. I hope this helps.

Ur borderline for CAL and UCLA - in at other EC's, i dont see u getting into any ivies.... unless u get ur sat up to 2150/2200+ even then, still reach

I need more specific advice.

Try for schools in between your targets and the ivies. For example WashU, Emory, UofM etc...

advice is, ur scores suck, lack of a rigorous course schedule (y not take some honors or more APs????, most applicants to good colleges have taken at least 4-5 AP's and majority honors) , average EC's at best, no hook

u got no chance at ivy leagues or schools below ivies, verrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy smallllllllllll chance at upper UC's
only UCI seems realistic, even DAvis is a bit of a reach unless ucan explain why u have no hard classes

"I go to a school that did not allow me to take many honors or AP classes. So I took all the ones available to me, but still."

mehh it won't let me quote

ur school sucks then..... dont let students challenge themselves.....

Bumping up.

umm you categorized them yourself...
What else can we tell you other than that?
bring up your sats and you have a good chance anywhere
