My other chance thread didn’t work out too well, so here it goes again. Any advice would be extremely appreciated!</p>

Since the summer going into 9th grade, I have volunteered at the ------, a local retirement home. Throughout my four years, I have been volunteering extensively over my summer vacations and throughout the school year. As I have attained more experience at the ------, I have subsequently taken on many more responsibilities and matured as both a volunteer and a human being. During my first year, I was mainly responsibly for simple, but helpful tasks such as transporting residents to activities, passing out mail, and relaying messages to residents. However, as I have pursued my volunteer work, the staff has begun to view me more as a fellow staff member than as an intermittent volunteer. Since then, I have run activities on my own with the hundreds of residents ranging from political discussion groups to memory games to fundraisers. As unimportant as these responsibilities might seem, Ive taken pride in each responsibility that Ive taken on. Working with the residents, many who have mental illnesses, has taught me such patience, commitment, and compassion for others that has carried over into my own life in school, and with my family and friends.</p>
<p>I don’t know what to say exactly… I just want someone to read my posts too.
It looks pretty good to me. Especially the comm. serv. I know some people who have like a gajillion (as in thousands) of hrs but got them all through being techies for drama. Yours seem to be more comm. service-y… If that makes sense.</p>

<p>It’s that the school on your list are hard to chance for some people, especially me from California. I really don’t know your chances for any of the schools on your list. </p>
<p>However, it might comfort you to know that your Extracurricular activities are stellar and competitive for even an Ivy-League level application.</p>
<p>For the more competitive schools (Penn State, Northwestern), your GPA might be a bit low, SAT score might be a bit low, and your rigor in class schedule might be a little bit less than others. You’re still competitive, but your chances take a hit because of that.</p>
<p>You’re applying to Northeastern right? (just to clarify)… I think you have good chances at northeastern and bu and i think that nyu and villanova might be a high match/low reach category. nothing on your list is a school that you couldn’t get into, and i bet you’ll get into most of these schools. you might just want to throw in a reach reach just to have one haha.</p>
<p>I’m not extremely familiar with Northeastern, but from what I know, I think you have a pretty good chance. Actually, I would say your in if your essays/teacher recs are good and if your US History SATII score is above a 700. NYU I think may be a high match or low reach. The other schools, I don’t know much about so I can’t help you there.</p>
<p>Hey, it’s kinda out of your hands…so let the good carma flow!!! All you can do is turn in some stellar grades in January! Then relax!!! I think you have a good mix of schools schools–safeties and matches – with the exception of NYU…who knows about that one, especially if you are applying to Stern. Very competitive–I’d say it’s your low reach! Villanova’s business school has also been very difficult to predict as well, but I think you look good there. Good luck!</p>
