THNAKS

All the UCs need your scores for any AP exams taken.

All the UCs need your final, spring transcripts. I think that some of them also ask for mid-year transcripts.

As far as your chances:
UCR, UCM, UCSC: safety

UCI, UCD, UCSB: match

UCSD: match/slight reach

UCB, UCLA: moderate reach

does anybody know which UC’s do look at first semester grades?

I was just about to post the same question…

anybody?

and more chance?

Cal may ask for 1st semester grades, don’t know of any other UC that does.

anybody know if LA does?

Chance

hye345’s response was perhaps a bit confusing. Once you have been accepted and have submitted your SIR to a particular UC, then you report your AP test scores and final HS transcript to that campus (not to all of the UCs)

At the time of application, you need only send in the application and SAT/ACT test scores.

I’ve heard that some campuses will sometimes ask for additional information such as first semester senior grades to help in making a decision. I don’t know which ones do it, and how common it is for them to request additional information.

so its only until after that you’re accepted that they look at your senior (first or second) grades, if they do at all?

someone else chanke ceme

bun p
anybody?

Just curious: what is your weighted gpa? If we knew that, more of us would respond.

am I the only one who thinks he has a good shot at getting into all of the UCs? he seems a lot “better” off than most of the students from my school that got into there. (15 total) especially if the school does not way the writing section of the SAT as much as the “original” 2

lol
dont know how to calculate it :(

I wouldn’t say all of the UCs. At least not until I knew his/her weighted GPA. However, your SAT scores are probably good enough for all the UCs. Your ECs aren’t bad either.

Actually, if they ask for first semester grades, I’m guessing that you need to get it to them before they accept you. Here is why:

You get your first semester grades at the end of January; UCs make their decisions in march. It wouln’t make sense if they asked for your first semester grades two months after you got them. Even if this were the case, you need to know that your spring final transcripts that all UCs need already include your first semester grades, so again, it wouldn’t make any sense. In my opinion, they use the first semester grades to make their decisions about whether or not your accepted.

By the way, to calculate your weighted GPA, give each grade from an AP class one extra point (except if you got a D or an F in the class). So for example, instead of an A being worth 4 points, it is now 5.

Good luck.

wait i’m still not even sure if they do look at first semester senior grades

does anybody know which ones do and which ones dont?

Unless stated otherwise (although I haven’t seen this), the only thing they will look at on your senior grades that would affect your chances at admission is if you received a D or F.

I have talked to Cal kids who had to send in their first semester grades at the request of the school. These are undoubtedly kids who are on the edge admissions wise and some of them were spring admits.

AP scores are sent in the summer, (July) after your senior year, and only to the school to which you accept admissions. The scores in no way affect your admissions. They are used only to determine college credit granted. How many AP classes you took in your junior and senior year is another factor used for admissions. UC’s like to see rigor in your schedule, so taking AP’s is good for admissions.

Senior grades may not include ANY D’s or F’s. If you receive a D or an F in your senior year, OR your GPA drops below a 3.0 you are at high risk of having your admission rescinded. Other than that your senior grades do not affect admissions decisions. In the case of a borderline (I’ve only heard of CAL doing this) you may be contacted and asked to give your first semester senior grades. Also in the case of a student wishing to petition a school (UC) where they have been rejected, senior grades may be included in the process.

tahnks…

new people chance me? :)
