Hi guys,

I just got rejected from CMC…
I’m an international student living in Africa (but Asian) and need a lot of FA.

Please chance me!
Thanks :)

My stats: 2160 SAT (650 CR, 780 M, 720 W),
SAT II Math 2, French, Literature (650-720 don’t know yet)
GPA 3.56 (Cumulative) 3.89 (Senior) UW for both
IB TOK, Geo, Math, Design Tech, Econ, English Literature, and French

ECs: Swimming (10-12) Captain
Orphanage (11-12) Founder and leader
School Class Leader (11)
School Vice President (12)
Green Team leader (10-12)
NHS Member (11-12)

Essay: Good (not great),
Recommendations: Very good

All of them out of reach due to your GPA, financial need, below mediocre ECs and your “not great” but good essays.

I am really sorry, but your GPA is just too low for selective top schools, and many mid tier schools that offer generous merit aid are past due.

Only your shot is Howard University, and even that’s not guaranteed because it’s first served:
Founders Scholarship

ACT = 32 - 33

CAPSTONE
Criteria:
SAT=1300 - 1390 or
ACT = 29 - 31
GPA ≥ 3.25 Award:
Tuition, Fees, Room Annual
Renewal
GPA: 3.30

LEGACY
Criteria:
SAT= 1170 - 1290 or
ACT = 26 - 28
GPA ≥ 3.0
Or Ranked #1 or #2 in class
Award:
Tuition & Fees Annual

GPA: 3.00

However the school requires your transcript to be translated by NACES if your school isn’t English medium. Can you pay 400$? How much can you pay per year?

@paul2752 but since my senior GPA is 3.89, don’t you think I have a chance…? I can pay maximum 20k per year and I go to an American School in the country I live in.

Not really.Your cumulative GPA is just too low for those colleges as an international student. What’s your GPA for each year? And weighted GPA?

Other than GPA, your ECs are just too…generic. There are many international students with several significant awards and experience with 3.8 cumulative UW GPA and 4.1 or higher weighted GPA and they still get rejected

since I take IB, I add +1 to my junior grade and add with 9th and 10th grade GPAs… I don’t know exactly now because my counselor didn’t tell me
