Recommendations:

  • Counselor- got to know her well, think that she likes me
  • Latin teacher- loved me and says that “I’m one of the smartest and kindest students he’s had”
    -AP Bio teacher- Overall great
-(ONLY for stanford)- a doctor there that knows me very well and says that I’m motivated
And I can’t choose between these:
  1. Hospital recommendation- standard, great
  2. Piano teacher- was my elementary teacher and has seen me grow and “admires my ambition”

And with whichever school that I’m applying to, I’m also submitting an arts supplement: Which should I submit though, Piano or Photography?
OR I could get recruited for Crew (highly likely since not many high schoolers row), and I have a higher GPA than the average GPA of recruited rowers.

Top Choices: * means do not look at freshman grades, but I’m not sure about the ones that I did not * so if you could clarify, that would be great! And ~ means that I’m talking to recruiters:

  1. Stanford~
  2. Princeton~
    3.Duke
  3. Berkeley~
  4. Boston College
  5. U of Chicago
  6. UCSD
  7. Harvard~
    9.Yale~
  8. Johns Hopkins

But I seriously want to know where I should apply Early action or decision!

Well, thanks for taking the time for reading this! My GPA is pretty low compared to other students at other schools, but at my school it is REALLY good. And although my school doesn’t rank, I bet that I would be in the top 10%. And Please don’t crush my dreams too much! Again, thanks! And I’m applying to ALL of these schools no matter what, because “you miss 100% of the shots you never take” - Wayne Gretzky

Your stats match the profile of students accepted into the Ivies.

Your stats also match the profile of those rejected by the Ivies.

Example: Brown says no to between 80-90% of those with an 800 Math SAT, 800 CR SAT, Valedictorians and Salutatorians.

So Go For It . . and Love Thy Safeties . . .and which are yours?

How is your GPA low compared to other students, good for your school, and puts you into the top 10%? At least one of those has to be incorrect; you can’t be low compared to other students and be in the top 10%. Rowing isn’t a sport that generates a lot of money for the school so those recruits don’t have as much leeway in admissions as a football player does.
Your SAT/ACT scores are good and your ECs are good. Have you been taking rigorous courses all throughout high school? If so your chances are very good

Apply ED or EA to your first choice

*GPA LOW COMPARED TO people at OTHER schools, but at mine, it’s decently high

and my safeties are: UCI, UCDavis, University of Rochester; and yes I’ve been taking rigorous courses all throughout high school. Thanks for the advice so far!

Oh, gpas at other schools don’t matter at all.

After you’ve factored in two or more safeties, that’s quite a few places to be applying to. You may want to eliminate some lower picks.

Scores are standard fare, or maybe slightly above average, for top schools. When I read your post, I was most interested in your medical internship at Stanford. Capitalize on that, because going from your post, you’re passionate about it.

[Chance back?]( http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1187753-chance-country-bumpkin.html) Thanks.

Your chances look really good, chance me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1187926-chances-ivies.html</a></p>

Thanks for all of the replies so far! BUMP

Good chances, however, most Ivy applicants look like this, your medical interests may help you separate yourself from the pack, make sure that it’s glaringly obvious that you’re very enthusiastic and interested about it. Good luck to you bud.

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1189227-chance-my-friend.html</a></p>

It seems like even after ignoring freshman year, gpa is not phenomenal. Your other academics are good, but the transcript is the most important. You have the ECs (a ton of leadership) and you’re pretty well-rounded. They could use more coherence though. Try to convey this through the essay. But class rank will probably hold you back from top schools like HYPS which, if you had solid gpa, I would say are well within range. The other schools should be within range, but class rank is nonetheless a killer.
