Chance me Berkeley/UCLA

Class of 2027 - got a research paper published in international conferences related to AI, 1st place in NASA competition (national level), Plenty of Volunteer hours, and clubs. UW GPA - 3.8, SAT 1480.

You should fill out the full chance me template so posters can best help you.

What are your UC GPAs?

Are you a California resident? What major will you apply to at each school? Do you have any financial constraints, or will you be full pay?

@Gumbymom with this GPA (unweighted 3.8), what do you think?

IMHO these two UCs are reaches for just about everyone who applies. And acceptances are not particularly predictable.

PLEASE do a complete Chance Me/Match Me thread providing all of the information on that template.

I believe I read on these boards a while back that if your unweighted GPA is less than 4.0, then your acceptance rate at UCLA goes down to 1%. Perhaps someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

Your SAT score is good but is not one of the criteria for admission to the UC’s.

And when you do so, please use the correct pronouns to make it clear that you are referencing your child.

Yes, fill out the template and also note that all UC’s are test blind currently so SAT scores are not considered for admissions or scholarships, only course placement.

UC unweighted (25-75th percentile) admit range for Berkeley was a 3.90-4.00 and UCLA was a 3.95-4.00. An Unweighted UC GPA of 3.8 is below the 25th percentile for both schools but can still be competitive since GPA is only one factor considered.

As stated, UCLA and Berkeley are Reach schools for all qualified applicants.

Here is the overall Freshman GPA ranges for 2025. Depending upon intended major, admit rates can be below 5% for some highly competitive majors.
