(Posting for my son) - I posted last year with some other schools, but now that his list is a little more nuanced, I’d like to get some additional feedback.

National Hispanic Recognition Program
Hispanic male from KY.
Attended local public school 9-10. Took 3 AP’s sophomore year (AP Seminar, AP Calc, AP Stats) 5 on all AP tests.
Starting Jr year, attending a residential dual-enrollment STEM academy at a state university. Takes all college classes as a HS student and lives on campus.
Jr year classes – Microbiology with lab, Genome research, Calc 2, CS, Computational Problem Solving, Chemistry with Lab, Bioinformatics with Lab, English Lit, Electrical Engineering. Sr year classes --Physics with Lab, CS 2, Electrical Engineering (Circuits), Government, English Writing, Multivariable.
Awards:
Things like math award at statewide Beta, lots of regional and state-level math awards, a few national math awards, but not Olypiad or anything of that level. Placed 10th at ARML over the summer. Won regional mathcounts twice in middle school.
EC:
- Cross country, swim, and track 9-10 grades. Current school does not have sports. Does triathlons and races outside of school.
- Science Bowl team. Highly competitive team.
-BETA, Mu Alpha Theta, Science Club, Math Club etc.
-AMC12 – hoping to make the AIME this year. Had the highest score in the school for AMC8 and AMC10.
-Work as a lifeguard over summer
-Typical volunteer activities…helping with middle school and elementary academic teams, working at a thrift store.
Would like to major in electrical engineering (energy systems)
Planning to apply to:
Penn, Cornell, MIT, Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, Colorado School of Mines, RIT, Northeastern, Boston U (?), UK (state school), Alabama Huntsville (?).
Would love to hear chances for the above and any suggestions for schools to add. He’s eliminated all of the CA schools from his list.
