Chance me, Chemical Engineering...

My Oct SAT Math score is 600 and 390 in the CR section ( I know, very low but I’m not a native speaker and never lived outside my country. Besides, This was my 1st trial X… Hopefully, I’ll be able to boost it up in my Dec SAT)…
My class rank is 1/110 and I can assure getting good recommendation letters.

Do I have a chance??

I want to do Finance but I’ve been told that my CR score is very low and will shot my chances and Chemical Engineering is my second choice…

Well if you are in Texas then you are an auto-admit. I also believe that if you are valedictorian of your school you can get a free ride to any texas public school like A&M and UT. Basically your SAT wont matter in the least. However i dont know if your math scores are high enough to place in higher math courses that are required for engineering. But you will get into the school.

I thought the auto-admit thing was for Texas high schools? This guy is clearly an international student.

Just out of curiosity, how do you arrive at finance and chemical engineering? Those are so vastly different!

@LiveStrongly: I’m an international student so this won’t work for me. Thanks anyway :)

@boneh3ad: LOL, I know ><… I’d do better in Chemical Engineering because I’m an excellent student in Math and Chemistry. However, Chemical Engineering has limited job opportunities in my country and many Chemical Engineering graduates are now unemployed :(. In contrast, there is a big demand for Business professionals in many big companies and banks. Since Finance is the most Math-related-business-major, I choose Finance over Chemical Engineering. :)

I’m a girl, btw :D

Bomb!!! :(

Well I WOULD answer your question, but I don’t have a clue. I don’t know the admissions details for undergrad here. I did my undergrad in Illinois, and am just doing grad school here. haha. You will have to wait for someone else to help you with your original question… =/

Ok, thanks anyway and good luck!

not an auto admit.

********* is min 1300 with at least 600 in CR and M.

idk what your chances are. :/

I thought that being an international student would be a reason why they should disregard my CR score…

why do admissions offices ignore the writing score??? -_-
