Hi! I’m currently a senior. I’ve applied to several schools already but am looking to add one more with neuroscience just to have some more options.

All honors/AP/Dual Enrollment courses except required classes that were only offered at standard level
GPA - 3.9 unweighted, 4.3 weighted
Top 10% of my graduating class of over 400 students (I go to one of the best schools in my state)
Very good recommendations from AP teachers
ECs:

National Art Honors society for 2 years, treasurer for 1
4H Hippology and Horsebowl (horse science) for 7 years 1st place team in both competitions in the state of TN, 3rd in southern region (15 states) in horsebowl, 4th team in the nation hippology (and 15th place individually in the nation)
Counseling different horse and girl scout camps for several years
Animal Shelter volunteer and foster for 5 years VERY involved with the shelter and over 500 hours of service there
Volunteer at local foodbank, children’s hospital, and environmental agency as well

Also does anyone know how Colgate feels about legacy students (not parent but cousin) they ask about it on the application but I’m wondering if it will actually help me in any way?

I doubt that Colgate administrators in Admissions “feel” anything about relatives of alumni.

Candidates must be competitive. So it’s probably best to view the question of whether you have a connection
to alumni as a request for statistical information.

Go ‘gate!

Colgate probably places value on applicants with alumni relatives. Seems obvious if they ask about it on the college app.

WashU is a reach for any applicant, but your numbers are within target and horse science is certainly a unique EC which would have been an interesting essay topic. Plus the Girl Scout Gold Award is a good EC-way more difficult than getting Eagle Scout.

If you applied to WashU ED1/ED2, chances would have been pretty good for an acceptance.

Syracuse should be a match since your grades and test scores are way above the average. Colgate is a high match/low reach since it’s a very competitive school, but chances for acceptance are good.
