Okay, so I have a few questions:

(1) Part 1 of Columbia’s application asks if I have conferred with any Columbia staff or faculty/admissions counselors about the admissions process. Obviously I’m not going to email someone if I don’t have anything substantial to ask but will I be looked down upon for not doing this?

(2) How does their interview system work? I know I can;t request one but for RD applicants like myself, will they only give you one if they like your application or is it by ordering of submission?

For interviews, it’s literally first come first serve. After you submit Part I, you get entered into the system and based on your geographical location, are contacted for an interview. It doesn’t have anything to do with your app.
