Ugh. So our flight was to leave Chicago at 9:55. We didn’t leave until 1:00 p.m. It was delayed in Charlotte. Then they found scratches on the belly of the plane that needed to be checked out. Then our pilot and co-pilot timed out. Then we had to wait on new ones. Then catering scratched the plane, so it needed to be checked out again. Finally, in the air. Our son made his way from the airport to the Inn. I sent a pleading email asking them to allow him to check in, which they did. I’m now enjoying a gin and tonic and some almonds. Nicely, everyone is being super polite to the crew.
I’m sure you all want to hear our saga but we are at the gate but the jet bridge is broken. Waiting on mechanics. DS is making himself at home at Swarthmore. He’s at the gym lifting. This is too funny.
I’m sorry to hear for your travel troubles. Swarthmore is a beautiful place to wait however.
So beautiful. The spring flowers are beautiful.
From her infrequent and fragmented texts, D24 seems to be enjoying Swatstruck.
That kind of texting usually means all is well! Hope it’s a great class next year. We’ve got dorm drop off on our calendar!
So more craziness in a good way. We are sitting in an informational session and as we are leaving two people run up to us and say hi. It turns out to be one of DH’s good friends from UofC and his wife. We went to their wedding in Italy 20 years ago. Shortly, after our babies were born life got in the way and we hadn’t seen them for at least 15 years.
We’ve hardly seen our boy today. He had lunch with guys from the swim team. Connected with some guys in a bio class he sat in on. And went back to the gym to lift. He has fully insinuated himself here.
Let me know if she needs cheesesteak recommendations.
Delassandro’s!!
As long as it’s not Geno’s or Pat’s, I’m all ears.
Delassandro’s!!
This is the only correct answer.
The gurus (Cheesesteak Gurus on FB) are not typically too fond of D’Alessandro’s. Apparently the meat is chopped too finely and is dry, made ahead of time and sitting there in a big pile.
They mention places like Angelo’s, John’s Roast Pork, Curly’s, Cafe Carmela, and Lillo’s as some of the top spots in and around the city.
I think the locals would disagree.
That page comprises mostly locals. I just drool at the photos. hehe
I’ve been following Swarthmore students’ protests. And I have to say it’s made me really love the school even more.
