I’m not going to chance you (I think you have a good shot with a good essay, but I wouldn’t know) – but I have a question: how did you raise your ACT Science from a 28 to a 36? That’s really impressive.

I think you have a very OK chance. I don’t want to be harsh, but I wouldn’t bet on it. The average scholar has better test scores, more APs and better scores on those APs. Oh, and I would send them both ACT scores.

hey a fellow thespian going for emory scholars!

as for chances… honestly I really don’t know what else to add… I feel like a lot of it rides on the more subject aspects of teacher rec and essay… so yeah. good luck!

@Bamboozler: Technique. I didn’t really know what I was doing and just read EVERYTHING in July, in September I just read the questions and scoured the material to find the answers.

Finished with enough time to check about half of it. =D

the thing about emory scholars is that its definitely more than just grades and stats. they look at that too but after a certain point, its your personality and ability to express yourself that will get you in all the way. emory really looks at essays and semifinalists are put in a “interview” where they discuss certain topics with other semifinalists. there are judges who will evaluate your discussion points and the way you present them.

several of my friends are scholars and they are very personable and eloquent. your stats are good so itll be pretty much what kind of image you give off to them that determines whether you get it. best of luck!

my dad desperately wants me to be an emory scholar . . . and I really want to too
what do you think of this?
