<p>Umiami, georgia tech, uga and east carolina university, you will be a definite acceptance. I’m @ Umiami and if you get your SATs up, you can get a nice merit scholarship.</p>

<p>Emory, i’d say you’re in, but don’t wanna jinx it. The only thing that worries me is your SAT for emory…same goes for John Hopkins, your SAT is a little below average for both emory and jhu.</p>

<p>i know i can get 780-800 on the math next time, but i know i wont be able to improve my reading or writing…i got a 12 on the essay (dont ask me how)</p>

<p>A 720 on writing is fine…be optimistic. if u practice hard, then you can improve at least 10 points.</p>

<p>dun worry about the SAT scores. I got in with 1830 haha. Though I had literally super ec’s and leadership experiences. Considering that my GPA was below the average, I guess Emory looks the most from your personality.</p>

<p>I hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way: you’re definitely a qualified applicant. But being that you’re not only URM, but Hispanic at that, I couldn’t see Emory ever turning you away. We have about a 3% Hispanic student body, and this year there were quite a few “Latino/Hispanic” on-campus recruitment days. With the strength of our app though, especially if you boost your SAT a bit, your ethnicity shouldn’t even come into consideration when they’re looking at you…</p>

<p>I agree with robbyg … your academic credentials speak loudly stood alone. When you factor in your Hispanic background, combined with your first generation college status, you should prove attractive to Emory. Your SAT scores are about average, but consider re-taking. </p>

<p>Regarding your Hispanic ethnicity, I think that it is perhaps the most under-represented of the URM groups at Emory. In recent years, the Hispanic population of Atlanta has grown significantly (as it has in many other urban centers throughout the U.S.); however the representation of Hispanic students enrolled has not kept pace. Though Emory has done a great job in years past in attracting top students of African-American heritage, they recognize that there may be a short-coming regarding their recruitment of top Hispanic students. The administration at Emory intends to remedy this, and thus you have added leverage.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, your 11 AP courses is not good enough… and will likely get you rejected… NOT! :wink: If there’s one thing that Emory has been consistent on in Admission factors, it is that they like to see students challenge themselves to the academic rigor available. In your case, you appear to have done what you needed to do. Good luck to you!</p>

<p>thanks guys. i really hope i can make it. im retaking my SAT’s in october and really feel like I can get 2200+. Ive been studying about 1.5 hours a day everyday.</p>
