I am so confused on how hard these colleges are actually to get into… Thanks!
GPA + Workload:
UW GPA - 3.75
W GPA (5 scale) - 4.05

Calc AB (3)

Stats
I took World and Calc Soph year and the other 4 Junior (this) year. Next year will be just as strong.
Rank:
Class Rank 10/130 (92.5%)
Tests:
1350 SAT
ECs:
Weak in ECs, but have Track and Field as well as Cross Country, part of 1 2nd place CC team and 1 1st place team, will be co-captain this year and will involve losing top 5 and working as a team to get back up as best as possible and can go very in depth here.
Work:
No official work, only odd jobs
Awards:
Principal’s honor roll every semester, academic team for sports, nothing outstanding.
Recs/essays:
Recs could be good, but not stellar. Probably 7/8 of 10. Essays very well done.
Side notes: Been going to HS for Math since 7th grade and Freshman year I got sick for 2 months which affected GPA a bit. Taken max course load and this year any non AP classes were AIS (Advanced Independant Study) for AP classes that I taught myself, not quite sure how I did on the tests.
If you need any other info, please let me know! And if you think a different college would work for me, or whatever you want me to know, it’s all welcome and greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
Actually, Weighted GPA is 4.2, looked at the wrong thing, sorry!
Hard. All three schools are very competitive. Under 20% acceptance rate, with Dartmouth being the most competitive. Your SAT score will b low for these schools too so they would be a reach. Focus on looking for match and safety schools. There are tons of great schools out there that would be a good fit for you.
You’d be a strong applicant for most colleges in the country. However, the schools you’ve listed would appear to be out-of-reach based on what you’ve posted here. If you would like reaches to consider, look into Colgate, Hamilton, Middlebury and Colby. These colleges offer the characteristics that seem to appeal to you. Though they’d be highly challenging admits, your profile does, to differing degrees, come closer to their averages. For safer admission bets, research Denison and St. Lawrence.
Yeh, tbh the whole application, SATs, GPA, class rank, AP scores, and ECs, doesn’t look like that level, but OK to apply to those schools as reaches. In general, those 3 schools are probably harder to get into than they seem from average SATs and so on.
Thanks everyone! Thats what i was thinking and will probably apply (for reach) to williams or amherst and low reach for middlebury and i already have some safety schools (such as local in state and a couple to narrow down out of state). Again, thanks a ton!
Apply to your state’s (or another state’s) honors program if that fits you as soon as applications open up. They are usually rolling admissions and often have various rolling merit scholarships. If you get into a good program before the end of the year, you can shoot for more and more reachy schools. It will also give you a better indication of how competitive you are. If you don’t get into those programs, set your sights lower with more safety and matches (and be realistic about what are match and reach schools for you).
