Chance me for any college at all

SAT 1250 superscore, 630 Reading 620 Math
GPA 2.716

Notably jumped from a 2.26 GPA my sophomore year to a 3.75 my junior. Made sure to write my personal essay about it because I understand my cumulative GPA is terribly low.

From Delaware, African American

Currently taking multiple AP’s , online college courses, took multiple honors and dual enrollments last year

EC- Student body president. I didn’t get this position because I was popular or anything, I got here because, long story short, I took it very seriously and campaigned as if it was real.

Founded a leadership development club at my school, I work with my retired naval Captain who graduated from USNA to mentor younger students into becoming great leaders/presenters.

On a volunteer “youth philanthropy board” program in which top students across the county meet as a board, we are given $15,000, and we have to evaluate where and why to donate that money. Ironically, it feels like being in the admissions office because places are applying to US for thousands of dollars.

Business Professionals of America officer for three years, Philosophy club, participated in Cross Country

Notable achievements: I invited my congresswoman, Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware to my school. I personally wrote a letter to invite her, gave her a tour of my school, and an introductory speech in front of the ENTIRE school.

Nominated for a state wide charter school award

Accepted into USNA’s summer seminar

that’s a rough copy of my apps so far. I typed it in a hurry but that’s the meat and potatoes.

Dream schools: USNA, George Washington (or other schools in DC), University of Maryland (either. My sister goes to eastern shore), literally anywhere in Texas pls I just want to go to Texas, Drexel (deferred last night).

I intend on majoring in political science with a minor in engineering (preferably Aerospace but anything is find) and an ROTC program (preferably Navy or Air Force). As long as I have those two things I’m honestly happy.

I was already rejected from Howard but I messed up on the app so I’m not too surprised, and I got accepted to Salisbury.

I’m not sure how to edit posts, so I’ll ask here, I was also hoping to get into Georgetown but as you can see my SAT isn’t there, let alone being able to take three subject tests. Is there a chance for Georgetown prep?

I just wanted to wish you a lot of luck. I am sorry that you were rejected from Howard. Are you interested in other HBCU’s? I’m all about the HBCU’s. Close to home there is Morgan State which I’ve heard a ton of good things about. My cousin loves Salisbury but that was awhile ago. Are you deferred at Drexel? Your are right in their zone GPA wise and test score wise. But they ARE very popular right now and have gotten notably more competitive in the past few years. You can dual enroll at Community College of Philadelphia and also a Maryland community college whose name I can’t remember. If you maintain your college GPA, you are automatically enrolled for junior and senior year. So that is another option. Did you apply to U Delaware?

On Texas, I am obsessed with Texas, too, and I love it there. I am not familiar with a lot of schools there, though.

I am interested in a few HBU’s, off the top of my head Huston-Tillotson and Florida A&M, but it’s not too terribly important. I applied to UD, just need to scavenge money to send my SAT scores

I’ve got a few qualifications that will hopefully give context for my comment: I’m from Maryland, I attend an Ivy, I work in Admissions at my school, and I’m black.
I think you have a fair shot at UMD, UMBC to be specific (but UMCP too if that’s more your speed). I’d tentatively say (and I don’t mean to get your hopes up but) maybe consider applying to an Ivy or two? Mostly because we don’t have score cutoffs for anything, and if you really just let your essays ooze with clear passion and drive the admissions officers will def take note. Especially if you happen to get an interview and really wow the interviewer (I give interviews too so I can personally say that’s something I would relay to the admissions officers).
And from personal experience I would recommend considering Columbia or Yale in particular–Columbia’s the most diverse of the Ivies and has the largest black population, and Yale has a really strong and supportive black community.
Good luck; and by the way if you want the HBCU experience but end up at a PWI, I strongly recommend joining one of the D9 chapters at your school! They change lives, no cap

Thanks for the support. I don’t know if I can get into Columbia or Yale, but I’ll try for Georgetown.

Sorry to bump a dead thread, but I wanted to ask, do I have a shot at getting into Rice? That was one of the first schools I really started getting interested in
