Chance me for b-schools?

Schools
-UMich (Early Action)
-NYU (ED)
-Fordham
-University of Washington
-University of Illinois (urbana)
-MSU
-UCSD
-UCI

Major: International Business/Advertising with a minor in Film production. (not leaning towards the finance aspect of business)

Location: Chicago

GPA: 3.2 (UW) 3.8 (weighted) (ouch! i know, my circumstances may shed light on that as you read on)
ACT: 30 (retook it again last october, hopefully it’s higher)
Courseload this year: Everything AP

Background:
-Filipino male
-Product of a single mother
-My mother is in the Philippines getting her degree in nursing these past 4 years, while I stayed here with distant relatives/friends.
-Kicked out/moved our of my current residency during my Junior year because of financial circumstances of family members and internal conflicts (added responsibilities and stress reflected in my GPA, I hate excuses but I think mine is a bit understandable).

EC:
-2 Years JV swimming
-2 Years Newspaper
-2 Years Yearbook
-Volunteered at a rehabilitation center for four years during the school year (averaging about 10 hours a week)
-Volunteered at impoverished hospitals in Manila all four years during the summer time (averaging 15 hours a week)
-Worked as a receptionist for a local gym in Manila for the past 2 years (summer) (averaging 20 hours a week)
-During the school year, I babysit/tutor children afterschool for no pay (it’s a form of rent for staying at the owner’s house)
-Articles/editorials written are featured for the district literary magazine

Teacher recs: Superb. I had my freshman english teacher write about my growth as a writer during my entire time in highschool, as well as my Senior AP chemistry teacher who wrote about my improvement in mathematics along with science.

Counselor rec: Great. Very close with her and (I assume) she explained my circumstances as well.

Essays: Superb as well. It’s going to be featured for our literary magazine (it was a narrative of my upbringing by a single mother).

I don’t feel like I conform to the traditional mold of prospective b-school students (especially with the CC users here), but I think I have some sort of shot. Am I way over my head to be applying to the likes of Stern?

NYU, Michigan, and Illinois are reaches/most likely get denied
the rest I would say you have a good shot/most likely accepted.
Poor GPA and average ACT score is hurting a lot for your reaches.
Single mother, URM, and ec’s are helping a lot, but these things only get you in if you are on the border of accepted/denied.

As an OOS you won’t get UCSD. UCSD is getting much more competitive and there are a lot of kids in California graduating this year. UCI might be a possibility. Can you afford to do a UC in your circumstances, out of state tuition is pretty high.
