88.6/100 GPA Increasing from Freshman to Senior Year(84 Freshman to 92 as a Junior), 1410 SAT. Born and raised in spain, moved to the U.S at 4, then moved back to spain at 8, then back to the u.s at 12. Wrote my essay about what having to change cultures and essentially identities so often as a kid taught me. owner of a 25000 subscriber youtube channel, logo designer and merchandise designer, such as t-shirts, for Students for Senegal (club at school that builds schools in africa), and Logo designer and content creator for a local soccer academy. Fluent in 4 languages, looking to major in entrepreneurship. Swimmer (soon to be states qualifier and school record holder, was in contact with babson coach but the recruiting class was already done when i reached out).
In addition, what is your highest math, English, Science with labs and Social Science? I assume you have a language exemption or what is the highest you took in school?
You have an interesting background so take your shots. But IMO other than UHouston it looks like you have a number of reaches to me. Hopefully you checked the affordability of each option if that is a consideration. Good luck.
Regarding Babson, they will likely be reporting a record application year based upon the significant publicity they have been receiving. On the other hand, I would love to know more about you so I can better advise - public or private? will the swim coach put in the good word with admissions even though they say they have a full team? Someone already asked the full pay question but that may help tbh. Babson swim does often take a couple of late kids or walk-ons from my experience, so you may want to pressure test the comment from the coach. @happy1 is correct that Babson would be a reach, mainly because of your grades. According to my source, average SAT for this past fall was 1458, but submitting a 1410 might still be ok. I would make 1400 the cut as a rule for them right now.
Your business sounds really great to me. Be careful to not make it your only thing as Babson sees so many people who have businesses already that it sometimes can be hard to stand out among the group.
Yes, I’m a citizen, and I could go full pay, but I have one brother who’s a freshman in college and another who’s a sophomore in high school, so we will all be in college at the same time for a full year. The aid would really help my parents. Highest English = AP English Language, Highest Science = AP Environmental Sciences, Highest social science = AP Macroeconomics. The language I am taking in high school is French and I’m currently in AP French.
Babson cost of attendance = $80k room and board. Not much merit. U Houston is about half and you’d likely get aid.
Obviously you saw their high US News rank and their #1 Princeton Review rank so study hard to see if the program meets your needs. Because it will save you potentially $200k over Babson.
I suspect you get into UH but check the Entrepreneurship program for any special admission that’s needed
Maybe Bing.
The rest no but Brandeis needs $$ so full pay you’d never know. IU is a safe yes but Kelley is a no. I’d say you may need more schools.
UH a yea but says this - Effective Fall 2026, applications to the Entrepreneurship Major will be limited to students admitted via a selective process to the in-person Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship program, which is a lockstep program comprised of six custom-designed courses listed below. The Entrepreneurship minor will continue to be available to all UH undergraduate students with a 2.0 or higher GPA.
Good to know. Brandeis is actually one of my safeties. Going on official visit on the 22nd of November and I was told that Brandeis meets all demonstrated financial need.
ChatGPT gave me a 45% chance of getting into Babson. This, most likely, does not reflect reality, but I like the idea that the odds are slightly less than a coin flip, which i’ll take any day
I think that it is next to impossible to chance you for Babson right now.
It is impossible to convert your high school grades to a letter based gpa, based on your overall average of number based grades. For example, your junior year gpa could be a 4.0 if all courses had a number grade of at least 90%. Or it could be lower. You can do the conversion course by course with 90+% = A, 80+% = B, 70+% = C, etc.
We don’t know anything about your class rank.
We don’t know anything about your school, what kinds of colleges the graduates attend, or what the grade distribution looks like. College admissions officer care about this context.
Babson indicates that standardized test scores are as important as grades, class rank, and rigor. Your SAT falls within the mid 50% of this year’s freshman class, BUT only 25% of this year’s freshman class submitted any test scores. The assumption is that the 75% who did not submit test scores would be considered lower than the 25th %ile of those who did submit, which would elevate your 1410 to the top 25% of the entire freshman class, not just test submitters. We don’t know how Babson balances all of this information, but it’s certainly possible that your SAT will give your application a big boost.
You offer some personal qualities which Babson values a lot:
Entrepreneurial initiative;
Entrepreneurial success;
International experience.
I think that your upward trend in grades - especially if they continue this year - combined with your high SAT score and in combination with your other personal qualities may make you a more appealing candidate than might appear to be the case at first glance, but we just don’t know enough to say for sure one way or another. Perhaps your high school guidance counselor can offer you more insight based on the success of past applicants from your school.
My opinion is that you have a chance, so give it your best shot.
