Mainly all of the seven sisters college in northeast except Wellesley… Not looking at Wellesley because of bad atmosphere there supposedly… i don’t do well with a ridiculous amount of pressure, as my high school is over the top competitive and I heard from a very close family friend that the atmosphere there was bad for her… and I trust her as we’re pretty much the same person. Barnard is dream school!!! Will be applying ED there in the fall!
Intended Major: Double major in English and Music
Stats: 3.6 GPA at top 15 public school in country (I know it’s low, but I have explanation coming later)
ACT: 32 (1st try, will be taking again to potentially raise score)
Currently enrolled in APES and AP Gov, will be taking AP Lit, AP Music Theory and AP French next year
Extracurriculars: Elite choir (section leader, director’s assistant), piano (10 years), voice (3 years), youth group, sports broadcasting (director), Young Democrats, Co-President UNICEF club, founded the De-Stress club at a highly stressed high school, women’s advocacy club, community choir of 100 people, A Cappella club
Job/Work Experience: Write for online sports forum, editor on online literary magazine, Intern with elementary school teacher
Volunteer/Community service: teach piano to underprivileged children, confirmation leader, teach Sunday School at church
recommendations will be from choir director for four years, math teacher and french teacher whose classes i both work very hard in and they both write very well, and english teacher who i’m very, very close with, and who has known me since freshman year, had him both freshman and sophomore year.
Hook/Reason for lowered GPA: three concussions in successive years have left me with Post-Consussive syndrome, neuropsychologist who administered test said that’s the reason for the low GPA, as my work ethic does not correlate to the grades because of working memory being severely impaired, leaving me unable to retain auditory information, and also low visual information retention. School just made accomodations and since then, my grades have increased because of assistance from teachers.
