Chance me for Berkeley L&E

So…I got waitlisted from my ED(Cornell), send in the LOCI but I am pretty sure is not gonna change anything.
Now I am manifesting toward UCs, but I heard this year race could be considered as a factor so…am I screwed?

Edit: Sorry for the ignorant message lol.

I personally believe that if you are in-state, you have better odds than us internationals. I’m not the person for chancing though. College decisions are very subjective and I do not think can be chanced without proper knowledge of your essays (and usually LoRs but this wouldn’t apply for UCs)

UCB frosh admission rate for 2019 was 12% for 3.80-4.19 HS GPA and 38% for >= 4.20 HS GPA. Your 4.17 is in the upper part of the 3.80-4.19 range.

L&S is the largest division, and does not admit by major, so its admission rates should be similar to the overall. CoE admits by major, and most majors are considered to be more selective than the overall.

This is very helpful! Thank you so much for sharing it. I have heard that UCLA and UCB used the uncapped weighted GPA as well. Do you know if it’s true or not? Also, is there any way possible for me to find more info on the subjects? Like more specific breakdown within different ranges? Really appreciate it!

UCLA has a freshman profile showing unweighted and fully weighted HS GPA (as recalculated):

So does UCB:

Thank you so much! It really clarifies a lot of my questions for me. Since my Uncapped GPA is within the range of admits(around 75th percentile), would you say that my chances for UCB relatively higher than the 12% according to the admission summary?
Or is the uncapped weighted GPA more like a bonus, and the capped one is the deciding factor?

Applications are read by at least two admission readers who will see and consider all three of the UC-recalculated GPAs in scoring your application.

Hi, I have one more question and you seemed really knowledgable with regards to UCs admission. When it comes to calculating UC GPA, does the grade you earned during the summer program count? I took two college classes at UCLA last summer and I am wondering is it going to be a part of my GPA or not. Or is only the A-G courses taking in high school counts?

GPA requirement | UC Admissions says to include all grades from “all A-G courses completed between summer after 9th grade through summer after 11th grade”.

Transferable college courses must be included and count for honors points. Regular courses (not extension courses with X prefixes) taken at UCs are obviously transferable to UCs.

My niece got in to Cal last year with similar stats. She got in to all of the UC’s actually. Good luck, you got this. 3.85 UW, 4.6W, 1390 SAT were her stats.
