Hello, I’m an international student from Egypt, and I’m applying for the 2024/2025 school year, I just wanted to know if this can get me into a great boarding school like Exeter, Andover, or Concord.
I really appreciate the feedback
I’m applying for the 9th grade.
SSAT: Been having a problem finding a place to take it in person so I’m scheduling it.
Academics :
Highest marks from 6th grade to 8th grade.
My school marks out of 100, I get 98-99 overall.
STEM :
Was in a robotics club in-school and outside of school.
Learned programming language basics such as HTML, Python, and C#.
Learned 3D printing and modelling and started working on projects.
Participated in 8th Grade science fair, and won.
Extracurriculars:
Part of the student council.
Nurturing plants in school farmhouse.
Participated in Art Fair.
Independent Volunteering
Going on trips to feed the homeless with different committees.
Used to present speeches.
Sports:
Swimming (Since I was 8.)
Soccer
Hiking
Music:
Harmonica
Basic Piano (For fun, not that much of an expert.)
LORs:
My English teacher is all in and she knows me the most.
Guidance counselor also knows me really well.
Essays:
I’m not bad at essays but I can take time to brainstorm.
It’s not much but we don’t really have national science fairs or giant competitions in my school. Will update this once I do the SSAT.
When do you plan to take SSAT? I’m just slightly concerned whether you have been discussed with the AO, like at Exeter about the deadline for submitting the score? For Andover, it’s test optional for this application cycle, so I’m not that worried.
In the next few days, I’m still going to contact Exeter.
I did take a practice test a while back and I did well, but I didn’t know the deadline was this early (Which is a big mistake on my part.)
As for Andover and Concord, I’m not that worried because I still have time and I think Andover has a second round.
This is the answer that AO at Exeter provided when we asked. My son also has similar problem like you, since the only chance that my son can take SSAT is the January one. He’s in the boarding school in the UK now.
…“Yes, that is okay if we receive the SSAT after January 15th. I recommend registering for the SSAT now as they are filling up quickly. We would like to have the results in by February 1st. Please provide the SSAT organization with our 4-digit school code (5764) so that the scores and essay are promptly released to our office.”…
He took his SSAT on Jan 6th, and the score was available on Jan 15th. That morning, we got an email update from Exeter that his application file is now completed and has been sent to the admission committee.
In your case, since you are about to take it. I would suggest you to inform your AO, so that they know to expect your score report.
