Chance me for Clark University, College of Wooster, and others? (will chance back)

Hi everyone! As a rising senior I’ve appropriately started the college app process. However, to lessen any sort of blow that’ll come out of a possible rejection/s, I’d appreciate if someone could chance me for the schools on my list. I feel like my objective stats are good (not great, but definitley solid), but since I’m applying primarily to liberal arts schools, I’m afraid that my subjective stats are too unimpressive. Thank you for any sort of response!

I’m currently attending a small single-sex private school in Baltimore. We’re not great, but we do regularly send kids to UVA, NYU, College Park, Hopkins, and an Ivy from time to time.

Teacher’s Aid (This counts as a class. I’m helping one of my past instructors teach a Sophomore literature class)

At the end of my Freshman year I was admitted into my school’s Scholars program due to my unweighted 3.9 GPA. I was also admitted into the NHS at the end of Junior year.

SAT: 1320 (690 R/W, 630 Math)

Extracurriculars:

• Varsity Choir - (9, 10), had to leave Junior year due to the rigor of my schedule.
• Mock Trial - (9, 10, 11), became lead attorney Sophomore and Junior year. Helped lead the team to the city semi-finals Junior year.
• Theater - (9, 10, 11) - I’ve always been cast as a lead/soloist, and was the lead in our fall play Sophomore year. (1 musical in Grade 9, and a fall play and spring musical in the 10th and 11th grades).
• I’ve a fee volunteer hours over the past summers. I also read voraciously, which I believe has made me a better person. I’m actually going to write my essay on the impact of literature in my life, as my grades and self-esteem shot up after I started reading.
• I write short stories and prose poetry. I actually started a literary blog which I post on every Monday. I’ve only set it up this month though, and it doesn’t have much traction yet due to its youth, so I don’t know if I should even mention it. I think putting it on my application would communicate my passion for writing, but not necessarily my talent in it.
• I’ve co-founded a creative writing club at my school, which is starting up in the coming year.

Hooks: First-generation college student, first-generation American (Brazilian parents), gay (though this is probably irrelevant since I haven’t done anything to advocate for the queer community as of now. That being said, I’m hoping I can start up a diversity club at my conservative school before I leave).

Special Skill:
• I’m bi-lingual; I’m fluent in Portuguese.

So, that’s everything. I’m already working on my essays, and I expect them to be very strong by the fall. I also expect my recommendations to be strong. Also, I’ve started speaking to the admissions counselors of the majority of the schools above, and have developed a pretty good repore with them.

Thank you again for any sort of response!

Also, I intend to major in Comparative Literature or English Literature.

You are definately a contender for Clark University. I am not familiar enough with the other schools to comment. Have you visited Worcester and toured Clark? How do you identify, its not clear in your post. If female, you might want to check out Mount Holyoke, I think your stats are a match there as well.

We know Wooster pretty well as my kid went through sports recruiting there. I would say it is a clear admit, likely merit money as well, as long as you have demonstrated interest, write good essay, and have good recs. Although we only researched Hobart and William Smith online and did not visit, from everything I read about its admissions, you should also be solid there.

Right, sorry. I’m a cis white guy, so I can (unfortunately, since I actually really like the school, haha) scratch Mount Holyoke out of the list. Honestly, what scares me (or scared me, since my anxieties have been alleviated some now) are my extracurriculars coupled with SAT scores that are dead average for most of these schools. I know you said admission shouldn’t be a problem, but should I take it again just in case? Also, I have not visited Clark due to the distance, but I have emailed my admissions representative explaining why I am not able to visit, and I think I communicated my passion for the school effectively. I’m actually planning to meet up with an alumni over the summer as well to gain for insight into the school and further demonstrate my interest. That being said, I might visit a few of these schools at the end of summer to early fall.
