Can I make it into any of the following colleges?..
- Georgetown
- Berkley
- USC
- Boston University
- Boston College
- NYU
- U Washington
- U Texas
- Syracuse
- Chicago University
Any suggestions for colleges I should apply to? I’m aiming for colleges in the North East or the West.
My EFC is very low (maybe even 0%) and my estimated FASFA contribution is high for most schools (about 80-90%).
Remove UC Berkeley from the list unless you are in-state CA. UCB gives little to no financial aid to out of state students, so expect to pay $60K+/year to attend. I would try to bump up your SAT scores for a better chance at USC and UCB if you plan to apply.
Were any of the other schools listed matches or slight reaches? I’ve been interested in Boston College a lot recently. Thank you for your help!
Sorry, cannot help you since I am most familiar with California schools. You look very accomplished and I am sure many posters will be able to give some good feedback. Best of luck.
BC has become very selective recently. I would say it is a low reach.
In at Wash, BU, Syracuse (UT?)
Reach:Chicago, nyu, gtown, usc, berkeley
Your rank is good, but your GPA is not. Try to pick up your UW GPA as much as possible. Definitely retake your SAT, as it’s pretty low for the selective schools. Maybe try the ACT as well. Also, take at least two SAT Subject Tests if possible.
I think you should retake your SAT exams, to get a better score. Your ECs are amazing. WIth a better score and a good essay you have a chance for all these schools. Good luck! Please tell me your opinion here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2071793-what-do-you-think-of-my-ecs-need-your-help.html#latest
UT Austin and Syracuse are a match. All the other schools are high reaches with very low acceptance rates. Your GPA might not be competitive enough for the reach schools. Getting in is one thing, but paying for these schools is something entirely different. If you’re low income, you need to go for as much scholarship money as you can. Check out schools in the deep south like Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, etc. They offer generous nonresident scholarships and your stats would qualify you for several of them. Also, since you’re in Texas, private schools like TCU, Baylor, and SMU might offer good need-based aid. If you can raise your SAT to 1500, you would qualify for a 95% tuition scholarship at Alabama.
