Chance me for Cornell and UChicago?

I’m an international student and I do the British Curriculum (CIE) so I hope some of you understand how it works.
O Level - 6As 1A, AS Level - 4a’s (90, 93, 94, 100) A Level - predicted AAA (fourth subject not done in school so predictions not applicable)

Extracurriculars/Activities: Did karate since I was eight, all the way up to grade 10. Did jiu - jitsu in grade 11 and finally settled on boxing later. (no awards or anything, just casual)
Worked at my parents’ shop almost every weekend and sometimes after school and sometimes I have to skip school to work at their shop if they have other stuff to do (going out of town or the country)
(I know, I know, my ecs are terrible)

Awards: Top in the world for CIE AS Level mathematics and 3rd best across four AS Level subjects in my country (Sri Lanka)
(I feel like this could be my saving grace?)

I’m not gonna rank my essays because I feel like I’d be biased, but I wrote about my best friend and how I taught him how to not hate himself for being gay and how I resisted my parents’ pressure to cut off ties with him.

As for the ACTs, I plan to do it in Feb (Not done previously due to extremely poor planning on my part :-< ) but thankfully, UC Hicago accepts the Feb ACT but Cornell doesn’t, but I’m just gonna go ahead and apply anyway

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Hey bro… I do a level and gcse also and ur grades are really good, except they might question why so few gcse so make sure you tell them why. Also how is the reputation of your school when it comes to predicted grades: is it have whatever you want or do you have to actually work for it. Your rewards are amazing and so are your ec , just absolutely BANGGGGG the ACT and u should be good

Save your money on the Cornell application: you must submit an SAT or an ACT to be considered.

I emailed Cornell admissions about this and they said that it might not arrive on time, so I’m just holding on to that might.

Thanks! Good to hear from a fellow A level taker around here lol. Yeah, I’ve been kicking myself for only doing 6 GCSEs (I was so stupid back then ughh). My school is pretty reliable when it comes to predicted grades tho so I’m good with that. Cornell is my dream school so I really pray they give me a chance. Good luck to you, if you’re applying to college too!

Hey @echo16, I’m another A level taker (as you so succinctly put it, lol) from India (not international though). If your predicted grades are any indication, although both UChicago and Cornell are a complete reach for anyone, I’m sure you’ll thrive wherever you go. Don’t worry about your ECs, colleges will take note of family circumstance, and you really didn’t have a choice to not help out in your parents shop.

^^ @DodosAreDead & @echo16, work IS an EC. Minding your siblings after school b/c your parents work. Colleges understand that MANY kids do not have the time or the means to do sports/arts/etc. What they want to know is how you use the time you have, and (particularly the highly competitive colleges) they want to know how you have processed your life experiences / what you have taken from it.
