Lacrosse 1 year jv 2 years varsity
Do you know what you’re talking about??? I go to Cornell (with a 4.0 average by the way) and I can assure you that 32 is a fine ACT score. Perhaps you’re just bitter that you would never be able to get in. “Low end of acceptable”… please, let’s get real. To the OP, you have a fantastic chance of getting in. Good luck!!!
Actually the 32 is right in the 50th percentile for the class of 2018.
Of course, if you apply the case in which the OP will be competing against generally tougher applicants in the ED round and as a hookless white male, maybe it is a tiny bit on the lower side.
Your GPA is amazing! Your ECs are pretty good too, I would say to get your ACT score up a little bit more though if you really don’t want to, you still have a great chance or Cornell. Just to comment on the other schools that you mentioned, I think that the usual Harvard, Princeton, Columbia would like to see a higher ACT, MIT would like to see more STEM involvement, but Duke would be an amazing fit for you- I know someone who had a little lower GPA than you and they got full to Duke.
Which includes hooked applicants.
For an unhooked candidate it’s likely in the bottom third. Hence my contention that it’s on the “low end of acceptable” is correct.
