Unless the rules have changed… You can apply to CAS or Tisch. Not both. That’s way it always has been at NYU - you can only apply to one school within NYU. Unless you’re doing a special joint program between the two.

That said,
Your GPA is probably too low to get into CAS. Tisch is more portfolio based, so if you had a good portfolio, you could get into Tisch. Obviously though getting into Tisch is extremely difficult - as it is Tisch.

I’m apply for both schools but i will probably only get accepted to one or neither. You really think my GPA is just plain two low for CAS? If their average 3.6 doesn’t that mean they accept students with 3.2’s, even if only once in awhile?

You can’t apply to more than one college within NYU. E.g. you can apply to CAS or Tisch, but not both.

11% of student had a high school GPA near yours. That’s across all NYU schools, including SCPS. That’s also a 3+ year old statistic. Do they accept people with 3.2 GPAs? Yes. But it’s mostly to Tisch and Steinhardt (where your talent matters more than your GPA) and SCPS (for mature adult students).

Your test scores are average for NYU. Which means you have an average testing range and subrange GPA. Meaning odds are against you for admissions.

The only thing that might make a difference is class rank. Are you in the top 10%?

You can only apply to one school at NYU. You did not apply to CAS and Tisch for ED1 seeing as that’s impossible.

My school doesnt have ranks. And on the application I applied for Tisch but it said something along the lines of “if we feel you are not suited for this program would you liked to be considered for another school in NYU” and I said yes and selected CAS. That’s why I said both. Also, do EC count for much? And if my chances are truly dreadful, what other schools would be better suited? I’m looking at Boston University, Illinois Wesleyan, Loyola-Chicago, and Knox College. Obviously, NYU is a dream school and therefore a reach. I know that. I’m just wondering exactly how far a reach it is.

Bump. Answer please?

Bump again, sorry. Just really interested in finding match schools if NYU is such a reach. Also, instead of Loyola I’m looking at the DePaul Theatre School for Playwriting
