Thank you so much!!!

Well, I’m impressed by the Real Estate. Though your ACT score is a tad low, I would be surprised if you didn’t get into at least 1 Ivy. Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1815927-chance-me-upenn-ed-uchicago-ea-columbia-rd-and-others.html#latest

What does a transaction coordinator do?

Thank you, @jarrett211. I am signed up for the Act in October, I am not sure if it is worth taking again? It would be my 3rd time, and I am afraid I could go down.

@Falcon1, A transaction coordinator oversees the contracts and management for properties under ‘mutual acceptance’ for real estate brokers. Basically, I work with mortgage brokers, escrow officers and title brokers making sure each sale is ensured to close on time per the legal contract!!

If you just took the October ACT, don’t take it for a fourth time later on. 3 is the consensus maximum. And a 33 isn’t really that bad.

I feel like the real estate aspect really sets you apart. You have a good ACT score and your GPA is good. I wouldn’t say you are a superstar student that will definitely get in Ivy League, but you have a really good shot of getting in state schools. I’d say you are being reasonable and realistic setting your goal to Ivy League, it’s just hard to tell.

Thank you!

I don’t see being a transaction coordinator is that big of deal since you are making sure the paperwork is order and not actually in the field generating and closing sales. It’s good though that you have been dedicated to a job for three years. Yale is tough to get in early but you have a chance. Good luck!

Unfortunately, the majority of students that get into these Ivies are of minority descent, and they have solid 4.0 GPAs. Depending on your HS’ accreditation, you may have a solid chance. Being of white descent, however, puts you at a disadvantage. This disadvantage may be nulled due to the fact that you are an LGBT - many rights groups have fought actively on your behalf of getting equal… or even improved chances… above everyone else. Try Cornell, the safety Ivy, if you aren’t able to get into the rest. Many of the students of the other snob universities have direct connections to them, and they are wealthy enough to improve their chances above you. Don’t stop trying; you’ll get in with excellent effort.

It takes two seconds to find out @timstoley is incorrect about the first sentence. Yale is 30% minority. Minorities (non-Asian ones) may have a higher acceptance rate, but they are not the majority that get in.

LGBT profile may help, but I’m not really sure where it fits in on some apps myself (I know Duke has a specific essay to discuss it though).

You have great stats and should get into a good bit of schools on your list. Good luck!

Curious, why Yale EA? Seems like your EA chances would be pretty solid at Brown, Northwestern. EA at Yale is really tough, and from what I have heard, not a big advantage over regular.

@Jennings99 I chose Yale EA because of the incredible theatre program and performance opportunities which (to my knowledge) are not as prominent at Brown or Columbia etc. Northwestern (and others) are ED and my parents won’t let me apply anywhere ED because I have toured anywhere first.
