Your GPA is outstanding. Your ACT is on the lower end of the middle 50% of Freshman selected for Engineering last year, but some programs in engineering are harder to get into than others. You don’t specify the engineering program in which you have an interest.

For Business, the application review process is much more holistic. Your academics are a match for business, but the whole application is reviewed to determine your interests and circumstances, and ultimately to help the admissions committee understand who you are, and what you’ve done to this point. Extracurriculars are important in this review also.

You say you have an interest in engineering first and business as a backup. That’s a pretty wide range of degree pursuits. For engineering, getting that ACT up a bit would help for certain programs.

Hope that helps.

@Balthezar Thanks for the help. As for right now, I do not have a specific engineering program that I intent to pursue. As for business, I am strongly considering the accounting and finance departments if I only get accepted in to the business school.
