Chance me for Florida Unis [4.0 UW, 29 ACT (superscore)]

White Residency is Florida and I qualify for the FAS, or Bright Futures.

  • Type of high school * Public high school.:
    First Generation

Intended Major(s). Applied to several different majors at different schools, including Comm. Science and Disorders, nursing, and Public Health.

GPA, Rank, and Test Scores

  • Unweighted HS GPA: 4.0

  • Weighted HS GPA *Unsure because my school lets the colleges recalculate the weighted GPA via the SRAR. However I have all A’s in my classes, so if anyone has an idea about what my GPA would be, that would be helpful

  • ACT/SAT Scores: 26 and 27 respectively. However my superscore is a 29, which Florida Unis looks at.

Coursework
6 AP courses, including 2 in my senior year. APAH: 5. AP ENG.LANG: 5. APUSH: 3. AP PSYCH: 4. I have also taken 6 honors classes throughout the four years, including some science, history, and English ones. I have four years of Spanish by the time I graduate plus an additional 2 years of ASL during my upperclassmen years. Highest level of English would be my current course, AP Lit, and my highest math would be pre-calc.)

Awards I have the AP Scholar with Honors award. Additionally, I have obtained awards for my leadership in Multicultural and Spanish Club.

Extracurriculars
3 years in school’s multicultural club, involved in hosting meetings and creating engaging activities. Also involved in hosting our school’s Multicultural Day where we bring several clubs together to host activities for students. 2 years in school newspaper where I am a writer and editor. 2 years in Spanish club where I am in charge of meetings (no formal leadership positions available here). I have volunteered at the school library for 3 years and have accumulated nearly 200 hours of volunteer time there.

Essays/LORs/Other
I believe that my essays are moderately strong, it’s hard to know. I have a LOR that was sent to several private colleges, but Florida Public Unis don’t accept them.

Schools
University of Florida (RD). University of Central Florida (rolling and already admitted, waiting for Honors College), University of North Florida (rolling and admitted + honors college), Florida State University (EA), University of South Florida (RD), and Florida Atlantic University.

  • Safety * UNF.

  • Match* UCF, FSU, FAU, USF

  • Reach* UF These are my assumptions, and I have already been admitted to some. In particular I am interested in my chances at FSU (which I struggled deciding between putting as a match or reach) and UF. Any insight is appreciated.

FSU is a match if you have a 4.3-4.4 weighted where each Honors core course adds +.5 and each AP/IB/DE adds +1. Honors a reachable reach.
FAU is another safety.
You definitely have a shot at UF but selectivity makes chancing you difficult. But I’d say 50-50 unless you applied for Nursing. (Nursing is always quite selective.)
Apply to Honors college everywhere.

You have a good shot at all of these. Only reason you would not get into UF is the ACT score. They want to see 31-33 or so. But if you can get into UCF, you probably have a good shot at UF. UF is just a bit more selective than they are.

Thank you for the reply! Fingers crossed!

Weighted GPA for University of Florida is calculated as described here: Freshman Decision Process - University of Florida

University of Central Florida appears to use the same weighted GPA calculation: https://www.ucf.edu/admissions/undergraduate/faq/freshman/

Since your list is composed of Florida publics, it would not be surprising if they all used the same weighted GPA calculation, but not all of them state that on their web sites.

Colleges outside of Florida publics may use different weighted GPA calculations.
