Chance me for Georgia Tech and Carnegie-Mellon University

Hello,

What do you guys think about my chances for Georgia Tech or Carnegie-Mellon?

I am an Asian-American (Indian) living in Georgia, so I am an in-state for Georgia Tech.

My GPA is not good and I hope it is decent enough for a good chance into tech. It is a 3.84, comprised of 8 B’s.
AP classes have been given 10 points in that GPA and I will have taken 11 AP’s at the end of senior year.

My SAT score is a 1540 Superscore, (770 Math, 770 Reading).

I intend on majoring Physics.

And let us assume I have a great recommendation letter, and great essays, and anything else I did not mention should also be assumed to be average. Do I have a fair chance at Georgia tech or Carnegie-Mellon? I hope my SAT score makes up for my low GPA?

Thanks!

You’ll probably get into GT because you are instate.

You have a reasonable chance at being admitted to both schools, but you need to add a couple of safety schools.

Boring video that shows the campus as unattractive, urban and uninspiring. Fortunately, the degree is valuable.

Both the city of Atlanta & Georgia Tech’s campus are more attractive than shown in this video–although Tech is clearly not in the best part of Atlanta unless you’re into bleak streets & highway overpasses.
