<p>Started “G.A.N.G. - Garner Action to Neutralize Gangs”<br>
We currently have about 20 members. We are trying to be active in the community to stop gang violence. The city has recognized our efforts.</p>

<p>Compton Hero of the Week last year</p>

<p>I have tutored kids in elementary schools all through my high school years</p>

<p>150 volunteer hours this year at the community center and at the Y</p>

<p>1st Violin in one of Compton’s youth orchestras</p>

<p>Special Circumstances- I am going to write my college essays about my sister. A few years ago, she was killed by gang violence. I was going to write about how I never expected girls to be effected by gang violence. Is that a good essay topic?</p>

<p>What are my chances at the other Ivies and UC’s? I think UC’s are pretty solid.</p>

<p>I would honestly be VERY surprised if you did not get into everywhere you applied. </p>

<p>The only negative I see is a lack of major awards besides NMSF. Good luck!</p>

<p>Good shot at the Ivies, Stanford, and in at the UCs. You have a nice SAT score, excellent GPA, and high percentile rank. The only negative is a lack of a lot of awards, but that should not be a problem since everything else in your application makes up for it.</p>

<p>I think you’re in. The topic is great. Scores are off the wall. The GANG EC is amazing and impressive also. The only possible reason you wouldnt get in would be because of awards, and number of ECs possibly? But i dont think that would happen. Just write an amazing essay and get some solid recs and youre in. Goodluck. And do not stress out so much. just be yourself.</p>

<p>black + amazing academics + 2400 SAT + varsity point guard + awesome EC (your GANG club activity) = in EVERYWHERE. I would say in at least 3 of HYPS. I wouldn’t be surprised if you get rejected from anywhere. Your stats are so solid that I have a feeling you are a ■■■■■. :stuck_out_tongue: If not, then honestly, you are in anywhere.</p>

<p>Not to be racist, but an African-American from Compton playing first violin? A google search for “Compton youth orchestra” doesn’t show anything. The “Compton Hero of the Week” award also seems suspicious.</p>

<p>I was stressing out over my applications, so I decided to join this site. At one time, you were new, where you fake then? How is wishing we had a lincoln-esque president any more odd than JTC591? Keyword here being “A” compton youth orchestra, it is run by the Our Lady of Victory Church, who also gives out the hero of the week award. Are awards from religious institutions not as good?</p>

<p>well not everybody makes a chances thread as soon as they join…and while awards given from religious institutions aren’t bad, if this “institution” is simply your church, then it probably won’t hold for anything…</p>

<p>If you really have 12 perfect APs and a perfect SAT, you have a great chance at all of those schools.</p>

<p>Actually, there is a Compton Hero of the Week award, and that church I listed does have a youth orchestra. Good call on the comp sci BC, did not notice that typo. Did the dead sister not give anything away? Come on, I thought THAT would be the main giveaway. And G.A.N.G.? You guys actually believed that?! This was actually a social experiment. It is interesting to see how quickly others are to find proof for the non-existence of someone with better stats them them. Seriously? Looking up a list of every youth orchestra in the nation and checking the school for how many AP’s they offer? Do you guys have nothing better to do with your lives? Why take the energy to check? The reason is that you are all so afraid of someone with better stats than you, that you will search endlessly for proof for your own benefit. This thread showed which people have self-esteem issues (those that searched for proof), and which people are comfortable with their achievements (those that “chanced” on the given stats). Congratulations to the latter, you are the people that will truly succeed.</p>

<p>To be fair, my youth orchestra wasn’t on the list, either. He could be legitimate; I just had to add my own to the Wikipedia page. Don’t base it just on those sorts of things, maybe they simply are not on the Internet.</p>

Why take the energy to do this? If you had any logic, anybody with those “stats” wouldn’t need to post a thread b/c it would be quite obvious but seeing as how you are a loser who likes to contradict himself, I can see why you would do this. “This was a social experiment.” What was the title? “Loser dedicates his time to ■■■■■■■■ on CC only to contradict himself in the end by asking idiotic questions.” By the way, this post took me about 2 minutes.</p>
