Chance me for Madeira Emma willard Westover Grier Stoneleigh burnham Buffalo seminary and Oldfeilds

Hi, I’m a middle schooler applying to all the prep schools above with not a single accomplishment —

It’s not like other applications. Oh, I know I’ve done nothing and then list years of experience in at least SOMETHING. Mine’s nothing because of financial problems and just literally no permission from parents. I haven’t done a bit, but it’s not like I’m trying my luck either. I know I still have potential and seriously want to get. They are listed above. It was supposed to be six but last two are tied. From my top choices to last in order, each to schools except for the least faves (last three) OKAY SO LET’S GET CHANCING

I’m African American

I speak English, French, and the dialect Mandingo/Malinke. I understand all other forms of the dialect

I’ve traveled to 6 countries in Africa

Want to board and for SCHOOL like my top choice Madeira I need full aid which brings my chances to I already have nothing of a portfolio

Academics

I have a GPA of either 3.7 or 4.7 (my school confusing, sorry)

I haven’t taken the SSAT but I’m strong academically

I’m an okay-great student academically, all A one B type of student

I literally can take one question and give 20 answers for it in one situation, then eliminate what I can using the scientific method

Arts & Creativity

I’m writing a magical realism book along with a tragicomedy trope I want to publish. I want to be an author and scientist

A visual artist (sketch and paint)

Can sing

I do write songs and raps

Quite artistic

Love creative writing, songwriting, and reading

Did I mention I’m an avid reader, super good at it and love it – in the makes author and a few songs (songs are personal hobby tho)

Athletics

Good at running, interested in cross country

Seriously working on my running skills

Leadership & Extracurriculars

Have a history in doing speech and debate at school

Was an assistant assembly prefect 2nd term 6th grade, then head social prefect 3rd term 6th grade

Planning to participate in online speech and debate programs/clubs

I want to do the online Iowa university Writer Workshop or anything/multiple ones like it available for middle schoolers

I’ve given speeches

Been in dances and plays but that’s all just school

I also, as a Muslim, advocated for the allowance of me and other students to pray at school

Have some pretty useful skills overall

Great with people and communicating, getting the point over, and gaining insights – speech and debate

HELP

You neglected to include one very important piece — you’re international

what does that do plus I was still born in the us if you didn’t see

wait a sec you’re right any major pros it can bring to my application

Why is Madeira your first choice?

too long of an explanation but basically I LOVE it from real world experience 3x (my learning) to funnest riditions ever I love the community and the facilities I’ve read the handbook over and over and it was the first all girls I found that made accommodations for both eids maybe other make accommodations for Ramadan too but the msa got me its my dream school and something I like to do is imagine myself at a school with students doing courses making friends and its always like the perfect match with Madeira the mod schedule makes too much sense too I just think its my own elite one of a kind school like the GLADCHEMMS to others if it wasn’t for religious reasons and personal preferences I’d apply to coed’s my first choices and the schools that helped me discover this world of elite education (I barely new private school existed I simply thought it was public school with cleaner bathrooms and better food (not that those were bad at my public school) with a heavy price tag never to be remembered by me again until while pursuing passion started looking for a writing camp none are good in the state I was living so foung mercersburg residential camps) Mercersburg Taft Deerfield and beyond I probably would have been rejected from those anyway

Have you looked at Foxcroft?

As a courtesy to those of us who would otherwise like to be helpful but are old, please employ proper punctuation and capitalization on your posts going forward. It helps us help you and also helps us take you seriously.

Sorry, and I understand. Yes, I have looked at Foxcroft, but I didn’t feel as strong of a sense of community as with the other schools I’m interested in. Then again, with my application, I should broaden my list. I also think I might be disqualifying myself a bit too much.

Ok, so I was just wondering if you have gotten any awards for Debate? Additionally I was just thinking, a LOT of Boarding schools are recruiting in Africa. You may want to check those schools out… Do a simple google search and look up which schools if you are confused. I know this sounds bad but quickly find things in school you can do, not like fake passion but more so service projects etc. I don’t know, some of my family members review applications and they say its takes everything as they look at a student holistically. Lastly, You got this! I know you do, just work hard and good things will happen!

Thank you so, so, so much for the reply and information. I haven’t gotten any awards because my school doesn’t give any besides the occasional pen or pencil, and I’m not allowed to participate in outside programs and competitions. My parents say it’s minor stuff and that I should focus on studies, the reason being they’re not sold on the idea of someone like me actually going to an elite private school in the US. I’ve heard about the recruitments here, but none of them go to the country I’m currently staying in. Oh, I’d actually love to get into that stuff. My school doesn’t have a single club, and I can’t start one either. I wanted to do a community service project that included a passion of mine, so I decided to start my first book drive. I created a group called Read to Rise, and just before things started to fully operate, the Education First lecture came. So the only thing I can think of now is asking permission for those prestigious online writing camps and speech/debate competitions/programs, all online, when they become accessible to me — which isn’t definite if I can do.

And quick question: does it bring any benefits to say I’m on track to finish memorizing the Quran in 1–2 years (started two months ago)? I mentioned I’m bilingual; I want to add Arabic to the languages I’ve learned, and that I can take courses on anytime I’m ready. Thanks again!

AOs are sensitive to the fact that people have different levels of access to opportunities. In the States, a student might be hampered by access to transportation. Don’t sweat this.

I would not put your not yet achieved goal of memorizing the Quran as an accomplishment. BUT it has the seeds of an interesting essay!

I don’t know, I love your academics! (Goals!)

Thanks, I have started practicing writing my essays, and it’s not hard for me as a writer. But there’s one thing that always catches me: we don’t write that much in my school, and I never got used to putting proper punctuation. Now that I’ve learned all the rules of punctuation—or at least all of them to my level—I still find it hard to apply it in my writing.

Other than that, now I have to find a topic. I’ve experienced a whole bunch, so choosing a topic would actually be hard. And I’m about ready to ask for permission to do all those I’m in—classes/programs/camps.

So if anybody has any suggestions of the ones that’d be good for me to do, I’d love to hear them.

Thanks. I’ll be working on essay writing on most of my free time now and perhaps get started on SSAT prep.
