What is your ACT/SAT?

Over 2150, as a hispanic I would say Dartmouth may not be that long of a shot.

WHy did you not have anything for 10th grade?

My ACT is 32 and my SAT is 1920 but I’m not reporting that because I think it’s pretty low. All the schools I’m applying to require SAT OR ACT.

I didn’t do anything in 10th grade because I was lazy basically. Plus, since no one in my family went to college, and no one I hung out with at the time was as dedicated to school as I was, I didn’t know colleges looked at extracurricular activities that much.

Colleges look at the “whole” student. EC’s show to them that you have a handle on “time management” and are not carrying the grades because you live with your nose in the books. Schools started to change this way about a decade ago, because studies showed that the student with ECs and a lower gpa had a higher success rate than the perfect score SAT srudent. A very large part of why kids get on academic probation is not because they can’t handle the work, but because they never had the social level and freedom before. Also, students have a harder time adjusting to making new friends if they never had other experiences, which raises the chance of transferring out. The goal for admissions is to have high quality students graduate, not just admitted.
