I really liked your profile. It seems like you chose activities that were meaningful to you over the course of your high school career and made the most of your opportunities. The college you eventually will attend will be lucky to have you in their community.
I like that your list was very diverse, you’ve already got a nice variety of choices and will probably have more as time goes on.

Thanks for the feedback. I’d be very happy with those results. I’m a little disheartened that no one thinks I’ll get into my dream school (Amherst) but I get that it would be unwise to get my hopes up for such a competitive school.
If you get four or five of your remaining schools, Amherst could be one of them. However, if you are accepted to one or two of these schools, it’s less likely that Amherst will be one of them.
It is late in the game, but I’d get off the whole idea of a “dream school” – especially one with under a 10% acceptance rate. That concept just set people up for disappointment. Might you get in to Amherst? Perhaps – you will know soon enough. But as I see it you have some excellent and affordable acceptances already in hand and more may follow. You can have a wonderful experience and follow your dreams at any one of these fine colleges.

I get that. I think I’d be ecstatic with any of Amherst, Brown, Williams, Swarthmore, Hamilton, or Wesleyan. The Maine and Vermont schools are honestly too far from home for me and Princeton is too cutthroat (so I’ve heard). I think Amherst is my top choice pretty much because it’s the only top LAC I’ve gotten to visit (besides Hamilton), so I could definitely see myself falling in love with any of them if I’m admitted and get to visit campus.
The schools listed are all reaches for any unhooked student. I hope you get the outcome you want, but keep in mind that you do have some very fine options already.

Bingo. You attend a small school. There are only so many of you that any one particular college will choose. That’s just how adcoms tend to work. IMO, Oberlin is a fantastic place.
Given your love for Amherst, would you confirm you showed them the love as opposed to some others you have heard from? That can only help IMO.
Absolutely. LACs are basically all “fit” schools, and visits before deciding are a very good idea.
By the way, Oberlin and Denison are both very well-regarded LACs in my circles, but would not necessarily have a ton of overlap in terms of who particularly likes them. Point being that in the event you had both on your short list and visited both, I would not be surprised if you formed a clear preference one way or the other.

I have never looked at admissions that way. Good that you visited IMO.

Anything you wish to report on Amherst?
Depending on where you are in Ohio, Vermont may be only marginally farther than western Massachusetts—perhaps just an extra 15–30 minutes by car to reach Middlebury compared to Amherst.
FWIW, I think Middletown has a more intimate relationship with Wesleyan; Wes is one of the biggest employers; the foot traffic between campus and Main Street is almost constant. Amherst (MA) is overwhelmingly a UMass town.

From the Cleveland suburb I chose, Middlebury resides one minute farther. That’s two minutes round trip though.

the size difference between the schools is enormous..so, yeah…. in terms of physical integration, Amherst College abuts the town literally abuts the town, and is spitting distance from the restaurants etc, UMass Amherst campus is farther from the center.
