Congratulations! You have such a great mix of choices! If at all possible, I highly recommend visiting your acceptances –– making the trip and then just getting onto campus really made a difference for our daughter, and attending a class in her potential major was also key in narrowing her final choices down.

Thank you so much for coming back and posting! Congratulations on all of your acceptances! I’m giving my predictions a 7.5 out of 10. I did WAY better on your thread than my NCAA bracket! 
You did a great job with your applications and now have wonderful choices. Walt Whitman says “I am large, I contain multitudes.” So where are you going to take your multitudes next?

I am really excited for you! You got into two additional schools that were even more competitive than the early five (seems like that was your unstated goal) - although I understand Amherst was your dream. I hope you can make accessing one of them work, if that is what you truly want.

Guessing that part of your appeal to Colby was application of math/data science to real world issues. Their centers on campus for this and your interest/experience are a great match. Definitely explore that as you make your decision. Congratulations!

Given Denison is affordable (not sure who else is), and you want to be closer to home, it seems a no brainer. I’d be less concerned with rank, especially If you want to end up in the Midwest. Far more in Ohio will know Denison than Colby, which is not really a known name in society.
Both are fine choices though but Denison seems to fit you better if this were the final two. Not sure which besides D is affordable at this point.
Maybe you can do some additional visits to test your too far hypothesis.

depends on the use of “society” there…
(being a PIA) When I hear someone say it is known in “society,” I think of society pages, where Colby is VERY well known…not “general public.” Local parlance, maybe?
