Essays/LORs/Other
I believe my essays are strong/ about overcoming fathers death and taking on responsibility form young age/ tied it into learning to love the law. Got looked over by a lot of people I am confident about my personal essay

Schools
(IK I applied to a lot but it was because I had fee waivers so why not)

Safety’s:
U of Arizona (Accepted + merit scholarship)
LSU (rolling)
Nova Southeastern (Rolling)
UC Boulder (Ea)
Baylor (Ea)
TCU (Ea)

Targets (low and high)
Auburn (Ea)
Clemson (Ea)
SMU (Ea)
UIUC (Ea)
UW Madison (Ea)
UMD (Ea)
UofSC (Ea)

Reaches
Northeastern (ED) top pick
NYU (regular)
WashU (regular might go ED2)
Umich (Ea)
Villanova (Ea)
Umiami (Ea)
BU (regular)

might add Georgetown if I get rejected from NU just for another reach

LMK thoughts on my list, I know a lot are pretty above my stats but I just wanted to aim high since I like a lot of my safety’s and targets too.
Also let me know if you have any school recommendations for me most important things are: Academics, internships, co-ops, city, don’t really care about social scene or greek life.

Thank you!

I think you’ll get in to your safeties and many of your targets. I also think you have a pretty good chance at Northeastern ED. Your stats are on point, even test optional - most students are TO there. Their most recent ED acceptance rate is 39%. Solid chance.

Your other reaches are…reaches…but you could definitely pull one or more of those if ED doesn’t work out.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input!

yeah I know they’re reaches but better to shoot high because I love Clemson and Auburn and pretty sure I will get in to those so if I somehow get into Umich that’s crazy but I’m pretty realistic about it.

With Northeastern anyway you know how many of those admits got into satellite campuses or the NU in? I would probably only go to Boston campus.

Those are only Boston admits. Apparently their CDS only reports Boston admits…or at least that’s what other posters here have said. 3672 applied ED and 1420 were admitted, per most recent CDS.

Thanks great to hear makes me feel better!

Mostly applying for the campus, and co-op program!

Congrats on your record.

CU Boulder, not UC

I like your list and your chancing but I think Wisconsin and Maryland.

Before you do ED make sure you run the NPC and can afford.

I know you say the GI Bill. Not sure if that covers so be careful.

Good luck. You’ll be fine with this list. You could even cut some.

Thank you!

Im so used to typing UC haha.

What about Maryland and UW? Are those more reaches?

My NPC for northeastern wasn’t that high because of family income so I think I should be fine for that just have to get in first.

UMD and UW are harder admits. And TO isn’t a help. Can also hurt with merit aid.

At UW, 54% submit but take out athletes ajd others it’s likely higher. At UMD 48%. Both are getting more and more apps.

The classification doesn’t matter. They, not you or I decide.

Because you have Arizona and will LSU and more - you have homes regardless.

One thing of worry is you applied places bcuz you had fee waivers.

But what’s the point if the school doesn’t interest you so I hope some of those safeties interest you. Nova Southeastern seemed odd.

There were 1537 students who enrolled as NU.in for Fall 2024 (i imagine the admit rate is far higher as i would expect the yield rate for NU.in is much lower than the 51% yield rate for the Boston admits): Northeastern Announces Incoming Class Enrollment Statistics

I agree with this! According to Naviance our school has a 40 percent acceptance rate at Northeastern over the last 5 years. Almost everyone who got in (6-10 people per year for the past 5 years) got in to NU.in or, more recently, Oakland. Only one person went this year and most years no one goes. So many get in but very few in to Boston.

But, I still think OP has a reasonable shot at Boston because of good stats and NEU strong preference for ED.

If the co-op is a big draw, I’d recommend adding U of Cincinnati to your list as a safety. Drexel would be another to consider.

Note that Georgetown is test required.

For your reaches, not having calc may be an issue at these schools, could be an issue at some targets too.

Big picture, the school lists seems a bit disparate…It’s not common that someone has urban schools like NYU and NEU on the list, as well as Clemson and Auburn. It’s ok of course, but you might be able to cull your list further.

I wouldn’t say Boulder, Baylor, and TCU are safeties. If you wouldn’t attend LSU or Nova over Arizona, I wouldn’t even apply. (really applies to any of your schools)

I think Clemson and Auburn are going to be tougher admits than you think. Auburn admits a very small percentage of TO applicants (they are test preferred), so make sure that’s the right play there.

Good luck.

Yes, I think less than 5% last year and they’ve clarified that they expect a test this year.

Sorry this is my first time posting- messed up m first one so repost

Looks like the GI Bill will cover in state tuition cost for public schools or up to $25,000/yr for OOS and private tuition. Are you looking mostly at NY schools? That would be your best option financially.

GI Bill Benefits | U.S. Army.

There are many SUNY schools that would work for you. I’d start looking there first:

https://www.suny.edu/attend/visit-us/complete-campus-list/

ETA: since you mention younger siblings, you should really familiarize yourself with how the GI Bill works. If you use all of the benefits, there will not be any left for your siblings.

If you would like to consider another reach, look into Hamilton, which offers term-length programs — with associated internships — in D.C. and NYC.

With the number of California kids applying and attending Boulder, the joke is that it is called UC Boulder.

I agree with Bruno99. I believe you will get into your safeties and likely most of your targets. UWisc and even Clemson and SMU, I hear, can be difficult to get into. However, NEU is notoriously generous with its acceptances for ED students to yield protect and have so many programs NUin, London, Oakland satellite campus, you have a real shot there as well. Also, your major and area of interest is probably not as impacted as others. By the way, which UofSC are you referring to? I presume South Carolina? I would think that would fall into a safety rather than a target? If you mean USC Trojans, the that’s a reach. I assume not USC Since you don’t have any other California schools. UIUC is a great school with generous acceptance rates in many majors, just not CS, Engineering, STEM, and maybe their business school.

I think that you have a good mix of schools, and a strong application. I am not familiar with the GI bill so I will just assume that the finances are fine.

I think that you are quite competitive for Northeastern ED. Some I know was accepted RD with slightly lower stats, but it was 10 or 11 years ago and they were full pay so I am not sure how much that predicts future results.

Good luck and best wishes.

Just juming in here about the GI Bill. Not sure of the Veteran status of your family member who has the GI Bill, but sometimes folks with the GI Bill also qualify for the Yellow Ribbon Progam if they are a Veteran. You can find more info if you google Yellow Ribbon Program.

That could help offset some costs to the tuition that the GI Bill may not cover.

Also, some out of state schools will give an in state tuition waiver if you use the GI Bill benefit (and for those schools, many times you only have to use it for one semester to trigger the in state tuition-this is helpful if there are other siblings who can benefit from the GI Bill too).

I know that Penn State, University of Pittsburgh will offer the in state tuition if you use the GI Bill. Also, Mississippi State is very military friendly-you just have to show them you’re a dependent or military connected somehow and you may get in state tuition. I’m sure there are a number of other state schools that may do this as well, just have to research each school.

Also, Syracuse University may be an option as they have lots of support and programs for military connected folks.
