Where is she now? working or grad school etc?
She stayed at Rice an extra year to get her Masters and just graduated in May. She is working for a medical device company.
She got great hands on experience at Rice. One summer she did an internship on campus (check out the Rice SEED internship and/or Rice 360 Internship) and she also worked for a startup at the TMC Innovation Center and some students work at the Fannin Innovation Center. Plus it’s really easy to get research opportunties if that is something you’re interested in. BioE classes are small and you really get to know the professors. There is a core group that you’ll likely have a few times each (along with other’s who just teach a class here and there) and who also serve as department advisors. That means they will get to know you pretty well and they can write detailed recommendation letters if you need them for grad school.
My rice grad was a Mech E major and is in Silicon Valley working for a FAANG
This might sound weird… but do you mind connecting me with her? Her path is a lot similar to the one I’m interested in (getting my master’s then working for med device company). If I end up going, I think it would be very helpful. No worries if you can’t i understand its College Confidential for a reason.
