ECs:
I’m getting into science reasearch now, and hope to participate in science fairs and publich in a journal. I also have a small etsy business set up that is yet to officially launch(but it will soon).
I do plenty competitive math(praying to get into aime this year) and get a few awards per year. In middle school I did particularly good in my state and even nationally, but not as much in high school(though im not horrible either). I even volunteer to tutor middle schoolers for competitive math. I’ve also done science olympiad and always place regionally. I might do tsa this year.
I volunteer weekly at the library, and do rec tennis(but want to try going more competitive). Lastly I’m the advertiser for this small club at my school about getting students volunteer opportunities.
The only significant award I have other than what I’ve mentioned is I got 4th in this online international biology competition.
Please tell me your honest opinion on how I’ll do. Thanks.
To me it looks like you are doing very well where you are. I agree with @tsbna44 that if you don’t get in, it really won’t make any difference to your long term prospects.
My kid attended from the most competitive CD, anything is possible. You absolutely have all the academic chops needed to be successful. In my opinion, it is much like college admissions, they want to know what you are going to offer the community and what you will take away from the experience that you can’t already get at your home high school. It is also very important to show, hopefully in recommendations too, that you have the maturity to leave home two years early. I would focus on those topics in your essays, good luck!
CD8 refers to my district. I’m in the most competitive district so it’ll inevitably be harder for me to get in. I have my reasons for wanting to get in(opportunities and personal ones), so I do hope I get it. Thanks for the response!
